Thanks

Japanophiles have jobs

>> No.952974

Japanophiles have jobs, women, a social life, and aren't nerds.

>> No.953017

Weeaboo tend to believe that the Japanese culture is superior to their own. An example question a weeaboo will ask is "Why do western games suck?"

A Japanophile just loves things that are Japanese but is not blinded by that love. The odds that a Japanophile knows and appreciates Japanese culture and history is much higher than what a weeaboo understands (which is superficial at best).

>and aren't nerds

Well I wouldn't say that.

Anyways, imo weeaboos are the type to run around squeeing in Naruto headbands and Inuyasha shirts and glomping random people on the street. They also believe that Japanese culture is always superior to Western culture and assume that Japan is some magic heaven and if they ever moved there they would be instantly accepted by everyone and showered with anime.

typical weeaboo statement, "Oh my God you guyz, Inuyasha is the best show ever! I can't believe you don't watch it, what a baka (that means Stupid in Japanese. I wish I had a Japanese girlfriend, she'd understand me! ^_^"

Japanophiles usually take an interest in Japanese culture similar to how a sociologist or a historian woulde. They are greatly interested in Japan, but actually research it, trying to learn as much as they can about it's culture, people, politics, ect. They DO NOT, however, pretend like Japan is some big happy fun land in all aspects, and recognize it's faults as well. While they may be less versed in anime than a weeaboo, overall they are usually much more knowledgeable on Japanese matters as a whole. They are often much less socially awkward than weeaboos, and it is most often not blatantly obvious that the are Japanophiles, like it is with weeaboos.

Typical Japanophile statement:
"Overall I think Japan has had a much more consistent lineup of horror films in the past few years. I feel that as a whole, a larger percentage of their horror films are more apt at being psychologically engaging, and truly suspenseful. That is not to say Hollywood hasn't had a decent amount of scare flicks out in the past few years either though."

WRPGs changed their focus from characters and storytelling to graphics, so the quality dropped alot over the last ten years or so. I wouldn't say that stories and characters were ever crucial to JRPGs, but the quality stayed at about the same level and most of them have some interesting gameplay mechanics to make up for it, so I guess they look better by comparison.

weeaboos like animu/mango and/or doujin gaem/VNs, whereas Japanophiles are not into that part of Japanese culture?

>>953035
They don't. But their target audience has shifted from gamers to stupids.

>> No.953112

They might like them, but not at the same level as the weeaboo.

>> No.953146

To me, there shouldn't be a distinction between the two. But if you want to pigeonhole people into two categories, I would draw the line between people like anime (and related niche fandoms) and people who don't.

OH GOD, THE IRONY.

It's fucking obvious YOU are the one who hasn't been here long enough. wapanese = weeaboo. How the fuck do you think we came about using that word? BECAUSE WEEABOO USED TO BE A WORDFILTER FOR WAPANESE.

I truth, you're making the distinction between wapfag and a japanophile, which are exactly the same thing, except one is an insulting term and the other is the correct dictionary term.

>> No.953175

A Wapanese is a Weeaboo.

There are really two meanings for both words: the insulting meaning (used to refer to Narutards, etc) and the non-insulting meaning (referring mostly to /jp/ers who have very high but suppressed power levels).

The words are used interchangeably... for both meanings. Meaning must be inferred by context.

We don't use the words with any accuracy or specificity, we mock weeaboos for the dogs that they are, and also declare ourselves weeaboos in the same breath.

But there is always "me" and "them"

Personally, I can't stand anyone with a remote interest in Japan IRL, maybe that's just me being defensive
