Janitorial question about accepted and unaccepted video games on /jp/. The general rule a mod made was that video games that had VN elements were okay here. However, I have noticed that on both /v/ and /vg/, untranslated video games are impossible to discuss. Even in generals, nobody is remotely close to fluent.

Is there more likely to be a larger base of fluent players of untranslated games on /jp/ or other boards? If there is a larger base on /jp/, would untranslated games become tolerable, or would discussion have to stay in game on 2chan?

The VN elements definition makes no sense. There are hardly any RPGs that also have fleshed out stories that go beyond dialogue boxes and a few instances of choosing with three mystery doors. Most choices don't even have an impact on a game, they just give you a different item or dialogue line.

A few Tales games have "VN elements" like AT, for example, and the mod made the mistake of thinking GUST threads were "Ar tonelico threads". I was under the same impression as AoC that tripfag hires for 4chan staff was a rare occasion, with most of the moderation consisting of moot's personal friends.

You do raise a good point however, since moot probably ran out of frends a long time ago so new staffs would be easier to vet if they were tripfags and/or respected by the community. This does not neccesarily mean they have to be liked, however.
