Why is it when English speakers put random Japanese in their work (e.g. in the title or the names of characters) it comes off as juvenile or pretentious, but when Japanese people like ZUN put random English in their work, it's somehow cool?

I bet there's a section of Pixiv where some Japanese teenagers who wish they were British or American randomly use English words wherever they can, and poorly copy Disney-style artwork.

English is taught in Japanese school, so everybody is expected to know it. That's why it's not seen as pretentious.

Because every time you use non-English, you are destroying the future of the world. One of the requirements to be a Type 1 civilization is a universal language, which English is best suite for.

It's Mandarin actually

Mandarin is a superior language to English in literally every catagory; it's phonetically flexible, very easy to write, syntactically and grammatically simple, etc.
