Boorus are okay. I go to Gelbooru and Paheal mostly. Paheal because the other porn only boorus have too much furry shit on them. Pixiv is okay but I tend to just use google and search blogs and such sometimes. A lot of things don't make it off the maker's blog/website, even to Pixiv. I'd look at other Japanese image sites too but Pixiv is the only one I've seen that navigation isn't a pain.

I don't know why you would use gelbooru for anything besides porn. It's just so horribly maintained; everything is poorly tagged, there's no pools, no translations, no moderation in what's uploaded...and the porn adds don't help.

Danbooru cons: 2-tag search limit, no loli, misses tons of stuff ("not approved in 3 days"), 'nice' community

Gelbooru pros: much more stuff, loli, allows as many tags as you like
Gelbooru cons: no translations, no comics, non-Japanese art is verboten, entries are tagged like shit, comments on images (especially loli) are cringeworthy, community is probably also shit but at least it doesn't seem to have the forced 'niceness' of Danbooru
