Anyone here with a successful career?

My parents are kicking me out after 4 years of NEETing it up and I need to know how to get a job. I have no work experience and a BA in biology that I use to wipe my ass with.

I got it because I planned on following my buddy into medical school but he dropped out and I lost any motivation to continue. I finished the degree since I was already 3 years in and figured it had to be worth something.

It can always land me a job as a forest ranger for 20-30k/yr.

Pet store, pharmacy tech in places like Walgreens or something just lie about working on your pharm degree or take them up for an offer to help fund part of your education, work on a farm bitches love a wo/man who can take care of animals and bale hay, field techs for research places like government or even test facilities. And then take a part time job at a gas station or some other minimum wage job for food and spending money.

>>9288839 is right, that degree isn't really worth anything alone, should've kept on going for a grad degree even marine biology would've landed you a job easier.

Sometimes I wonder why I don't take my own advice to just find two part time jobs and forget school. I hate to learn educationally.

>> No.9288908

You think you can get a job?

You're a socially maladjusted NEET. You'll never make it through the interview process when it's just a normal labor type job. They'll always just pick the most charming guy because skills and qualifications don't really mean shit.

Now ask yourself, will the most charming guy ever be you?

Get connections or get a better education.

>BAs in non-engineering science aren't very valuable. Stuff like biology needs a research level degree to really be worth something.

I graduated with a BS Biology, used it to get a 50k/year job in Pharma.

First step, was to make sure I got plenty of lab experience with a diverse array of techniques (HPLC, cell culture, ELISA, various kinds of blots/electrophoresis, other stuff). Unlike students pursuing the advanced/academic track, your publications and professors aren't so important; the goal is to pick up a smorgasbord of techniques industry will need.

Then, identify and pursue jobs that are technically demanding, but mind-numbing/soul-sucking, with little opportunity for advancement (Hello Quality Control) -- in return, you'll usually find it comes with decent pay in a boring but stable environment.

Landing the first job is the hardest, but if you perform well you'll be set for however long you can put up with it (for me, that was about 8 years).

Good luck.

If you can't find work in your field, hit up a temp agency.

In the Navy, there are buff men who jack off in the shower every day. They see the new, girly /jp/ recruit, with his soft skin and shoulder length hair. They make fun of him constantly, his round ass bouncing through training, and always call him a fag. They haven't seen a woman since the start of the week. One day, they all hit the bar and get drunk and shit and laugh at everybody singing Karaoke. Some Army fags start to hit on /jp/, but his shipmates intervene and tell them to back off. Somebody throws a punch, and /jp/'s knees go weak from the impact. His buddy chatches him and then grabs a beer bottle and smashes it over another guy's head, spraying clear liquid all over the floor. Another man rams his mug into /jp/'s throat. Eventually he passes out. The next day they all get masted and put on 45 days restriction with forfeiture of half-month's pay for two months for fighting. JOIN THE NAVY.

9288917 here. In a Pharma environment, what you're being hired for is not just your skillset; it is also for your documented credentials. They need to be able to demonstrate due diligence in their selection of personnel in front of a customer or regulatory agency.

Even if they were willing to give a random drop-out a chance to get in the door (unlikely), it makes them look bad in front of an auditor.

I actually don't have a degree. I studied Math and Comp Sci in college, did lots of graduate level work (got published as a co-author in a paper), but failed at the boring gen-ed requirements because I didn't try (I had the wrong idea of what college was for at the time.)

Do keep in mind that I've been coding an average of about 4 hours a day for the past 12 years - my skills are (and are easily seen to be) expert level because of thousands of hours of practical experience, not academic study.
