The only fandom I see from TD is RADICAL futo, and that has nothing to do with her character, it's just a manipulation of her artwork since she was in perfect position on her boat. I've seen a few people take a liking to Yoshika, but I haven't really seen fanon relating to her at all. I have seen absolutely nothing of Kyouko (excessive good morning greetings, possibly), Seiga (Sega jokes), Tojiko (Mima jokes), and especially Miko. Hopefully this trend will continue. I think the lack of IOSYS videos has assisted in keeping things controlled.

Most of the characters themselves aren't fully fleshed out enough to be totally interesting, which is why people grab on to certain attributes and mold the whole character around them, like lazy Meiling or insecure teenaged dyke Alice. To be honest, it isn't all that bad, I do enjoy my Yuuka that loves killing and my Yuyuko that loves eating, it does make them more interesting. When people go around spouting that's it's canon and the only possible correct interpretation of the character is when it gets dumb.

They're all pretty. Those are facts, not personality traits. In any case, most of her appeal (to me anyway) lies in her ability to be a permanent foil for the straight-laced Youmu, a position she probably enjoys. Overeating is just another way to show off (or exaggerate) her whimsical nature.

Someone said above that we know nothing of the character if there had been no English wiki in 2008.
I'm in Touhou since 2004 and he’s not wrong for me. At this time I was mainly there for games. I wanted to learn more about the characters, their motivation. But The little that i found that time was after the Japanese Fanon, but things were simpler, it was mostly on the scarlet devil mansion people.
When I begin to realize the true personality of some characters, I was disappointed, for others, I began to appreciate them more, for other again, the Fanon was not so away.
By 2010 I wanted an official anime or a manga Touhou! I wanted to know the true personality of the character! I wanted to know how Sakuya met his mistress, the history of the Flandre’s wings! How of the friendship of Yuyuko and Yukari .. ect ect

But I realize it would be a mistake.

Fanon can be stupid sometimes, and some jokes are tiring.
But THIS IS TOUHOU !

Thousands and thousands of fan takes pleasure in appropriating this world!
We had good and less good artist make doujins on their versions of backstory! On their version of Gensokyo !!
If the canon was more explicit, we would have less fun.

okay in my opinion, fanon is part of Touhou itself and that's what makes touhou interesting, ZUN admitted it himself

but some of us dislike some fanon compared to canon or some people too exploiting the fanon it doesn't funny anymore

Realize that however bad the western fanbase may be, most of this flanderization comes from Japan and their fanbase. They are creating all the content which feeds all the secondaries. Japan has way more secondaries then we can even dream of. Their Touhou board is horrible in this regard.
