I have recurring dreams where I'm with a group of fellow students (though I'm no longer a student in reality). There's this one mysterious girl who's only tangentially associating with the group, with evidence that she has some extraordinary affiliation unbeknownst to most of the other students (she's magical, time-traveling, part of a secret world, etc.) and I'm all trying to befriend her and get in on all that extraordinary shit, but I'm at a loss at how to do that, so I just sort of hover around her awkwardly. Later she's more or less by herself and I'm staying in her general vicinity but keeping a distance because I don't want to approach her just yet, meanwhile she's doing all her extraordinary stuff. I never get to really talk to her, let alone get invited to partake in an extraordinary adventure with her.
The dream plays out like this time after time, with the only variation being the location, the extraordinary ability, an occasional peer or two who talks to her much more successfully than I do, and more often than not she's a specific anime character.
