You know, my answer has always read a bit like this: directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, animated by Production I.G, written by Keiko Nobumoto, with music by ZUN. But honestly, if they don't care about the material, it won't end up good anyway. I'd just assume give it to Manpuku Jinja, tell them to go easier on the boobs, and hire them enough staff to make it work. Hell, Gainax started from such beginnings. It wouldn't be a slick production - neither was Wings of the Honeamise - but it'd be special.

It'd be based on Highly Responsive to Prayer. OP is something new ZUN wrote based on the menu theme.

Gainax

Central plot point is the impending dissolution of Gensokyo, which its inhabitants must try and protect. Faced with this great ontological death, with the survival of everyone at stake, the show starts off optimistically with many of the Touhous putting aside their differences in order to join a common cause. That is, until the final and great truth becomes apparent to the majority of Touhous, at which point Gensokyo dissolves into anarchy, eventually turning into a grimdark tragedy.

The OVA ends with Gensokyo being apocalyptically destroyed, ironically due to this very chaos, as the audience is treated with stunning panorama shots of the real world post-modern urban Japan and its semi-rural suburbs. It's implied that Gensokyo no longer exists after that point. Just as it never really existed in reality.

I wouldnt base it on any of the games because there would be nothing interesting going on. Just shooting innocent bakas. Instead I'd make it "2hufield:Yuyukos Conquest"
It would mainly be a glorious war/drama/comedy story about Yuyuko, youmu and friends taking over all of Gensokyo for the fun of it. Theres also a new 2hu called "AC-130 chan"

I've always had thoughts about this. I once was really keen on writing a storyboard for a film dealing with the history of the moon in Touhou lore. It would be a Touhou derivative work though, and definitely not canon, since some of the things in the film would probably piss ZUN off.

The film starts off with the Apollo 11 program, with Neil Armstrong invading the moon. Whilst on earth, the televised broadcast is a replay of a tape filmed in the Nevada desert - the true purpose is to exterminate the Lunarians, find their capital, and steal their technology (before the Russians do). Neil Armstrong and co. arm themselves with M16s, and upon landing, fire upon moonbunnies pounding mochi, in a very gruesome and bloody scene similar to pic related. Then, the moonbitches come and kill off some of their crew - the humans retreat and fly back to earth, having failed to find the capital.

There's more to it, but you probably don't want to hear about it, right /jp/?

Brain's Base for animation, those people can animate hair.

based off of IaMP, a larger cast of characters and I want to see Kana Hanazawa do Alice or Patchouli. Asami Shimoda as Suika and Hiromi Hirata as Marisa.

Hire TAMUSIC for the soundtrack, maybe rework some songs for fight scenes, etc. Music will have a classical feel. Maybe O-Life for a couple themes for eastern instruments. Broken Moon could go either way, it's a great song.

Why would you send a single ship into territory that supposedly contains more advanced technology than your own? This is based off the assumption that said technology also includes superior weaponry, of course.

A single ship would probably suffice if it was a scouting party, not one that would immediately massacre contacts upon arrival.

Also, there were no space shuttles in 1969, and even there were, they were only meant for low-orbit spaceflight, not flights to the moon

Cue in flashback scenes involving Kaguya and Eirin, etc etc. and how they came to earth, how Kaguya asked men to find impossible things, how they came across Udonge, etc etc and then how they ended up in Gensokyo

Full-film length animated movie, full bloody and gory action-packed scenes guaranteed a box-office hit amongst normalfags (to make $$$), but will definitely piss off ZUN because it kind of strays from what his vision of Touhou really should be about.

You forgot the part where it would be live-action, with a cast composed primarily of Western actors. They would add one Asian/exotic race to the cast mix just for diversity though. It would probably Kaguya, since see won't play such a huge role anyway.

Also, the whole bunny thing with Lunarians would be removed, since they look too much like playboy bunnies, and as symbols of objectified sex would be too offensive to women.

I want a full-scale video game with at least a $50 million budget. I'd want it to be open world with all locations explored in Touhou to be visitable, with advanced NPC humans and youkai going about their everyday lives. You play that shapeshifting fox from WaHH and can change your form and blend in with any species, so you can participate in oni drinking parties, tengu patrols, humans attending school, etc. Of course, it will look good and be very immersive.

There will be no one from the main series in the game. The purpose is just to explore the universe of Touhou.

Don't know many anime studios and their bodies of work.

The story would be a variation of both Mountain of Faith and Subterranean Animism, om which Kanako is trying to take control of Gensokyo and Reimu going out to stop her, which turns into an all out civil war in Gensokyo between factions supporting either shrine.

Opening would be a remix of The Primal Scene of Japan the Girl Watched.
