(Partially ripped from Mokou)

One of the longest Touhou RPGs around has been translated! Genius of Sappheiros brings back the glory days of classic 2D JRPGs, Touhou style!

A mysterious fog is sapping the energy of youkai across Gensokyo, but not of humans. Reimu and pals bust some heads as they head out to discover the source behind this latest incident!

Game with expansion set (not up to date):

I hate Gorgon Barrier so much. This level made me quit the game the first time around. Not only because of how ridiculously hard some of the mini-bosses are, but also how mobs disappear even after you run away, and it takes years for the dungeon to fully respawn. It makes it so incredibly annoying to grind there, and I'm basically stuck with nothing to do at this point because nothing is there right now.

When I went in, I scouted the area and then asked myself, which characters serve what purposes?

Middle: Youmu, Sakuya, Patchouli, Alice with freefight.
I have my strongest physical characters in supposedly the most difficult route and Patchouli as magical support with Alice defending her weak self. Threats include Will-o-Wisp and those Eyeball things that can reflect both magic and physical attacks.

Left: Mokou, Aya, Sanae, Byakuren with square barrier.
Defensive Mokou and evasive Aya in front with duel support in the back. Mind flayers in here are dealt with Sanae's RES buff followed by Mokou's IND reducing attack. Mind flayers become generic trash.

Right: Marisa, Reimu, Satori, Nitori with Trickster formation. Nitori tanks the front with her auto heal while Satori and Reimu kill any Pan before they can cast Confusion. Only threat here is the Elite Cockatrices that can petrify. Satori learned Petro Breath off of one these guys but I ended up losing it. 1% chance of learning it, too...

those mobs in 20 C or D are easy to kill and give about half the XP of 21 mobs. I had trouble killing certain groups in 21 without a full party (ergo with at least Alice and Sanae), which gave me some problems when I wanted to bulk up my underleveled touhous. I never bothered with it, but wiki suggests using Alice and Holland Doll. I would use it with Hourai Doll (with Reimu barrier for the turn when you need to cast it). Whenever someone else gets oneshot, you could probably use Mokou (preferably with an Awakaned Soul accessory) to get your guys back. 2000 PATK, 255 ACC and 100 RES will probably neuter all your attempts to evade its attacks, so this is probably the only way to survive all that shit. It has 0 MDEF and no resistance to Light/Mystic. Dragonslaying probably works too, but 650 PDEF... so yeah

Yes, and those are the people that said they were able to beat GoS in their sleep. The only way in which DoD would be easier is the fact that you don't have to grind as much as you do in GoS. With DoD, you can play through the game with a relatively low level team, but only if you have a correct Shikigami + item configuration on all of your Touhous. And getting a good Shikigami configuration is in no way simple to figure out. Otherwise, you will be overleveled with a poor configuration, and still get your ass kicked by midbosses. In addition, the fights have a lot more gimmicks rigged against you in the game, and you will often find yourself just standing there completely immobile while the enemy regains more health than you can deal and hits you 4 times every turn. One wrong move in a fight, or one unlucky occurrence in the enemy's favor and you're fucked. Personally, I never found this to be such a huge problem in GoS.

I wonder how long it will take them to fix this bug. You can hit anything for 99999 with refresh from Royal Duke if you use Spell Enhance and Power Increase(INT) on a high int character. Hyper Elixir does 99999 to everything. I've been reading it only happens once your magic attack power goes over a certain amount so you can try diffrent ways of raising it.

Try healing your party this way and see what happens.

Killing the enemies before the final boss room. I can kill everything except the dragon in 1 turn if I set everything up correctly and I get 15-25k exp. I had to kill them lots of times too since you can recruit most of them.

I don't really use Mima she just buffs Patchouli for me. She's supposed to have some of the highest total base stats out of all the characters. Second highest INT, and first in AGI. So she could be a character that uses magic skills much more quickly than some of the other magic types.

1. How does the shikigami system work?

>> No.9109821

>1. How does the shikigami system work?
Your Shikigami (and Last Words) are basically your only way of directly using magic when fighting. You equip Shikigami to your party members and your Shikigami have their own movesets which you can use to do damage, heal, buff, etc. Shikigami also have passive abilities, their own levels and their own HP/MP/INT/etc which add to your characters' stats. As you level up your Shikigami, they learn new moves, new passive abilities and gain stats. As for getting Shikigami: most enemies in the game have a certain recruitment rate which determines if that enemy becomes your Shikigami after you defeat it; it's 100% luck.

>2. What is Yukari's stat spread like?/What is her role in the party?
From what the wiki says, Yukari's stats are nothing special. A balance of everything, nothing that really stands out or is too horrible.

>3. How does the music compare to GoS?
I think it's great, in fact better than that in GoS, but it still gets dull once you've played for several hundred hours (just like in GoS).

It has a list of all the characters in there as well.

Other than that just be prepared to watch your characters die a lot (they come back to life for the next battles, until they run out of life counters). It's a pretty challenging game, but there are good answers to every challenge in it.

For people grinding in Stage 21, I suggest having Byakuren loaded with +Bomb items as your commander.

That said, if you're low leveled it might be better to grind either earlier stages of the temple or yukkuri, since exp won't scale down for either.

So, where do you guys farm for character-specific crafting materials before beating the game? I find the whole process just agonizingly tedious, given that it involves going back to a stage like twenty levels beneath you, looking for an encounter with the necessary monsters, failing to get any items, running away, running into the same encounter another six times before you finally see the same monsters again, failing to get any more items, and so on ad nauseum. I just want one crow feather. Just one fucking feather. I'm not asking for a whole set or anything here. I feel like I must have slaughtered the entire tengu village twice over looking for a crow feather, not like they don't each have enough crow feathers to last a lifetime.

And, yes, I've equipped the gamer fan. Then again, maybe I used up all my good luck back in the Garden of the Sun when I got Petrification Breath and the Cockatrice Crest on my first run-through without farming.

>> No.9118377

you might be better off looking at the chest guide and going through the stages early on to see which tengu feathers in chests you perhaps might have missed.

This sounds extremely risky to me, especially since a lot of monsters there can just completely wreck you unless you use Power Down on them.

the ones which matter (read the minibosses) are mostly immune to it anyway. But there it is indeed risky to fight without Byakuren buffing your guys.

>> No.9118506

>>9118446

I've only been able to beat the Druid and the Lightning Baron Minibosses so far, but both of those guys ate a Power Down after 2 attempts. It won't work hardly at all unless you Hyper Trigger Byakuren, and cast Unresist on them first though. A few other enemies I can think of off the top of my head that Power Down works really well against are Lesser Dragons, and Machine Dragons. To a lesser extent, it can be also useful against Death Riders, and Abyss Worms. But those two dragons breath attacks will own the crap out of me without power down, and I'd rather not bring Aya with me just for them because I'd be gimping myself for other monsters who don't use breath weapons.

>> No.9118541

>>9118506
I thought the opposite, going there without Aya being mostly pointless: she's not all about breath reflection you know. If not for her EVA field, then just for Illusionary Dominance: to take out Mindflayers swiftly, to get Yukkuri King before he can run away... my favorite Aya tactic however is putting her in the commander spot in a slow formation, using the 3-commander bomb and comboing it with Private Square.

I'm actually astonished that your Power Down worked there. The Lightning Baron and the Druid have 125/120 RES. I suppose it's easier with Youmu commander bomb. Now you've reminded me of the damn hairballs and how I still can't get them to cast Raise Dead on my Satori. Fuck my life

>> No.9118591

>>9118541

I almost always include Youmu in my main party, so no I didn't have to use her commander bomb. Unresist is all it took after Hyper Trigger, and Unresist quite obviously has a higher chance to land out of any other Variety effect in the game that I know of anyway, so even with their high resist it will still land fairly frequently.

But I never thought about using Aya for Yukkuri's like that, I'll have to try it and see how well I can still fair against other monster parties. I usually just prayed they didn't run on the first turn, and if they didn't I almost always killed them. More often than not though they do.

See those two? I gasp deeply whenever it actually -doesn't- inflict the enemy. To the point that it's my favorite spell in random encounters with Reisen

Seriously, what's wrong with you all. Even the fkng last boss isn't hard, even with party in early sixties (the only real requirement is lvl 60+ Youmuu with T6 katana and some thinking).
Even 21st stage isn't that hard unless you want to beat those minibosses.

Depends on the situation. I redistribute my points pretty regularly, based on what's working and what's not at any given time. It's usually pretty easy to rationally decide which approaches might be best to face whatever's troubling you at the moment, though there are always creative go-arounds.

The HDD/SSD drives that "erase" your team members are weak to wind attacks, so it's best to quickly wipe them out before they delete you. Now if you're talking about the place that I think you're talking about (中層入口 of 混沌の魔城), then I think that is where you find Lily White. Also, the バックファイヤ (pictured) is a recruitable Shikigami that has the strongest fire type attack with base damage of 250. You'll find her extremely useful, in combination with elemental debuffs and magic buffs, against bosses.

>> No.9123440

>>9123420
Iron, Rock, Bamboo, and such materials are basic crafting materials. You really just need to big them off of enemies/from chests. The crafting options for basic materials have you recycle a material into another one as a last resort. GoS 週末 has higher drop rates and lower crafting requirements.
