And should I buy Tera guys? There's supposedly good combat but almost no content. My GPU is a Radeon 695X Double D XFX, so it's pretty okay ($260 range), but I think the main draws is characters and the beautiful scenery...but it's not worth it for that and a monthly fee...is there a trial?

Because I played it long enough to give up on the parts I liked and sadly accept the kick on the butt out the parts that sucked were giving me.

If you're sticking with Aion, be prepared for one of the most ridiculously and blatantly overpowered classes ever. See those SMs that don't do much at low lvls? Be ready to have them chain unbreakable CCs on you for 45 seconds straight and slowly kill you with dots while you WATCH. See those sorcs that can one shot mobs with Aetheric Spell at lvl 12? They'll have FOUR skills that can one shot PLAYERS by max level, plus fucking lots of CCs. Yeah.
Be prepared for Godstones, the greatest idea ever on the history of MMOs. Equip one on your weapon that has either 8% chance to free CC the enemy OR 1% chance TO INSTANTLY KILL HIM. NOW THAT'S JUST GENIUS.
And, above all, be prepared for RNG.

FUCKING LOTS OF RNG.

Besides godstones, your enchanting will be RNG based, manastone socketing is RNG based, lots of skills have RNG factors (woops, this skill can either cause half or double damage plus stun! Time to pray!), and... the crafting. Oh, the crafting.
The crafting system where, if you want to make a good piece of gear, you'll have to pray for a critical green craft, that you'll make a blue item you'll have to critically craft into a better one, that you'll have to critically craft into a golden one, that you'll have to critically craft into the item you wanted all along. Provided you don't fail any of the critical crafts you happen to get.

I fucking had one of those items. I can tell you how big of a bullshit crafting this crap is because I fucking destroyed 3 months of my life making one.

So, yeah, I have a bunch of reasons for not playing Aion.

I played Dota 2 until I had a long streak of bad games that ended with me costing my team the game because I forgot to call a missing mid until it was too late. My teammates proceeded to rip me a new one over it and some of them started purposely feeding. I decided to end my suffering in that game and uninstall.

I know I fucked up hard, but why must team based games like Dota have such shitty communities?

I'm going to get back into playing X3: Albion Prelude as soon as I finish downloading some mods I want to use with it.

You can sink a lot of time in the X Universe games and they're slow paced sandbox space flight sims so it's pretty easy to take it easy when you're playing.

I think FFXI is dead to anyone who ever enjoyed it in the old days. I quit about 8 months ago after playing since early 2004. I stayed through the nerfs. I stayed through the horrible patch days where sometimes people couldn't even update and log in for 3 days at a time. I stayed through the void of content that was WotG, even. What finally drove me away was a year of nothing to do but Abyssea.

Don't get me wrong, though. I thought Abyssea was great content, but the way they handled it was all wrong, Namely the level cap increasing so much all at once killed the game. Going to 80 would have been fine, as it allowed room for expansion while not making old gear completely obsolete. The fact that they let us almost fully re-gear, and so easily at that, left us with nothing to do after a relatively short time. There's a few ways they could have prevented it, but when my entire LS managed to get level 90 empyrean weapons and have multiple sets of fully upgraded AF3 we just didn't have anything left to do but Voidwatch, and by that time we had already lost a large chunk of our remaining members.

I still miss doing Salvage and Einherjar. I miss them being a challenge, and when something dropped you were ecstatic because nothing worthwhile ever dropped. I know that they're revamping them, but at this point it would take more than simply rehashing old content to get me to come back. I'd have to get my LS to come back and I've lost touch with most of them save for the other leaders and a few of the non-leader members.

I doubt I'll find another MMO any time soon that replaces the feeling FFXI gave me.

Lulu only has one attack spell
then one for running away and one for a shield.
I I keep stacking magic power but the attack never hits because people don't stand still so I can aim it.

I tried it. Loved the horror setting, story, and music. MMOs need more of that.

On the bad side the optimization sucks. The gameplay is the usual hotkey mashing as well. But at least you get to dump skill points into stuff like assault rifles, magic, and samurai swords I guess.

Dunno if it's worth buying though. But it's better than TERA at least.

I think a lot of the enjoyment of online games comes from the people you play with. Games like MMOs, DotA-likes, and just about anything online is applied to this. Generally the people you find randomly through the games are rude and unfun to play with, which makes you not want to play the game.

But we have a wonderful group of like-minded individuals right here on /jp/. We don't need to subject ourselves to the lowest common denominator. We can play a game and take it easy, play it competitively, whatever we want. We have this ability. What do you say, /jp/? Are you willing to have some fun with me?

Me too. I'm on the E-75, but things are just looking worse with every new gun released, especially for the E-100 with the bigger and weaker lower glacies and turret face, and a gun that isn't really better. Meanwhile a lot of the new tanks can easily bounce the Maus gun unless you aim, which they don't, and the 15cm is going to be terrifying with the over pen and accuracy. Probably won't even be able to reliably hit weak spots.

I played a little of The Secret World, and I don't think I'll be be buying it. The graphics are really shitty, even on Ultra. It's badly optimized, too; I can run The Witcher 2 on Ultra with no problems, but TSW runs badly in towns.

What server are you on? Generally, it seems like there's too high a saturation of healers. My LFD queue times on my mystic are usually longer than for my warrior, which is around 25 min. Even finding a group through chat can be difficult as a healer, because I always see tons of healers looking for a group on VoT.

I don't really get how the auto-LFG works. As a priest I regularly have times of over 30 minutes if I use the tool, but if I make a group manually it's rarely over 5. Very strange. Tanks seem to have it much better, though.

There's also the secondary possibility of limited total instance numbers, so no one may actually be getting instant queues while using the tools. That would be pretty retarded though.

No, it's just that only lancers can currently queue as tanks and they are in short supply in relation to the number of healers and DPS. The ideal ratio is 1 lancer : 1 healer : 3 DPS. Currently, it's more like 1:2:5. Lancer queues are nearly instant.

If you mean dungeon queue, the times are never accurate.

My average estimated queue time is 13min, but I can wait for over an hour to get a party. Then other times I've gotten a group in 5 minutes. But this is all higher level dungeons and there might be more people queuing for the low level ones.

If you can queue with at least one other person it helps a lot. Preferably if it's a tank or healer.Better start making friends to play with!

When I still played awhile ago, it can be mostly bad or good. I'd say people will most likely not give you money though. There are griefers too.

When I was in Japan playing, it was something entirely different. Everybody pooled me when I joined in late or dropped me a gun if I couldn't buy in time. When the round ended with us winning or losing, everyone always says gg/gj/gr? I forgot which one. Everyone was so damn polite. This was in EVERY server I went to by the way. Thought I'd share this.

It's the same way when I play monster hunter with Japanese people using x-link. In the couple of rooms where they actually talk, everyone is very nice and encouraging, and I've had multiple people give me cool drinks or other random crap when I fuck up and forget.

I'm nice in mmo's and I'm always willing to explain something or help with something if you need it. But it's really hard not to be an asshole like some people when your group is just plain bad.

I just finished attempting an instance in Tera with a group. Three of them were from the same guild and were supposedly in vent together. It was their first time and I tried to explain the instance to them. I specifically said to avoid a group of mobs but someone decided to go right up and attack them. We ended up wiping and the only thing he said was, "Opps sorry XD." I should have taken a hint and left the group right then and there but I decided to press on. We wiped on the next boss at 20% and tried again and won, but we wiped in the next area. We spent 2 hours trying when the instance shouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes. I ended up dying several times and we didn't even get anything.

Times like those I wish I wasn't so timid and could just call them idiots, noobs, or whatever and then leave. I can take it easy but fuck it's not that hard.

I play LoL at 2100+ on US server, 99% of the games are fun because anyone who can get that high doesn't give a fuck once safely at high elo unless they are going for top 10 or something for publicity.

Although the games I went through, dealing with all the kids to get to this pseudo wonderland took a lot of not giving any fucks about what anyone says and focusing really hard on self improvement.

I loved the hour or two I played. I was grinning like a moron when I opened up the map screen for the first area. It's just like my Silent Hills!

Then I saw Belmont Ave. and how Transylvania is future area in the game. I would preorder the heck out of this if it didn't have a monthly fee. But I might eventually get it anyways depending how the betas turn out. Horror MMORPGs are sadly a rare thing.
