That's not quite true. I used to hate Nicovideo with a passion for what I considered to be user-bullying, but now things have changed back again for the better. They got rid of much of the invasive advertisement and needless alarms. Their servers can still be shitty and unreliable, however.

Youtube forces re-encode on all videos uploaded, and as someone else said only allows 30fps. Nicovideo has higher maximum quality. However, the service is still piss poor in comparison to Youtube unless you have a premium account.

If YT hadn't started doing a lot of annoying things like pushing ads harder and forcing re-arranges of channels, I would still like them more than Nicovideo overall. But those ads can get annoying fast and I don't approve of ads that force you to click something to get rid of them(or reload).

Overall most of the people on /jp/ who bash YT are just bandwagoning/being weeaboo by its true definition and don't really understand the differences between the two. Well, maybe now they do. Until NND gives some slack on the horror that is economy mode and/or stops all the loading errors that can occur, YT is still the better service overall(unless you're paying).
