It actually did for a while. Then moot basically accepted /jp/ as a disappointment and has seemingly gave in to the compromise that /a/ has off-topic threads.

Thing is, I wouldn't mind people from /a/ asking us about VNs and whatever if they were sensible and learned the ropes. The problem is that we're awful people for expecting posters to lurk and search for themselves, and not make threads all about their requests or problems.
