It would help if the control words were actual words. But I guess only a 80% human pass rate is worth it if bots have 0%. Then they can brag about how good it as and get people to digitize house numbers or whatever. Fucking Google.

Why are you typing out both of the words. Those house numbers or whatever else that pops up is not required to be right when you type them in.

Remember that thing that was spreading around where people where saying that you type nigger along with the second word and you could still post? They were right. You dont even have to type nigger. You can literally just mash your keyboard and type out the other word. (You can always tell with word is the one that need to be typed write they are the ones that are the unintelligible lettering.

Someone explained that the one part of captha where you dont need to type correctly is the one where they record to their books or what ever. The second unintelligible part of captcha that you need to type in correctly is not kept or recorded or whatever they do with it.

Yeah well, you're newer, dude, because moot said he'd never implement a CAPTCHA and that he'd instead improve moderation. I know it's a lot to ask, but there are plenty of autists who sit here 20 hours a day because they're losers. Extend the janitor system to allow a spam reporting function. The post is deleted but all the post data remain, leaving it up to a mod to say, "Yep, this is all spam." then hitting a "Select All" button and banning a few hundred IP addresses at once. moot could make a new position just for this, or even tie it to the relatively new spam/flooding/advertising report option.
Mass flooding and self-replicating scripts are a problem, but those can be dealt with too. Some of the boards were basically untouched by the 4chan.js/hta thing, because members of staff were deleting it almost as soon as it was posted. And from what I remember, the board choice was random.

I asked moot to get rid of the XXX post numbers in a sticky where he was posting, and the next day they were gone.

I don't think pushing to remove captcha is pointless. You actually have the power to make small changes in this world, anonymous-kun, if you only believe in yourself and make the effort.

>> No.8869218

What surprises me is that spam took so long. There has always been spam (robots just crawl for public forms, after all), but it was never really a big issue until 2010. I mean we had scripts like rape.sh, but even /b/tards used it primarily for image dumps. Now if the CAPTCHA was removed, that same script would be used by a dozen Accelerator spammer clones (after someone makes a Windows/GUI version).

It's funny how nice moot is in threads. People just ask for things and he makes it happen. A couple of months ago someone asked for spoilers in /r9k/, and he just added them right there.
I think moot told a bit of a white lie about reading emails. I've been pushing for additions, useful features and bug fixes for years. Some of them have happened (/diy/, "transparent" thumbnailing) but most of them haven't (/svg/, "File:" file name fixes, spoilers on /x/).

If you go to Mr VacBob's Formspring, you can see I've resorted to harassing him, with mixed results. Hopefully he's working on the thumbnail issue I reported.
