Why Blizzard games are not that popular in Japan?

Blizzard games gaining mainstream appeal in Korea, China, Honk Kong and Taiwan, why not Japan

Do Japanese people even know what Starcraft is?

why post here? because I think you guys know better than /v/

>Honk Kong
And a chen picture. This is no coincidence.

Japanese people don't have good computers. They can only play old MMOs and VNs on them. It is a mystery why such a technologically advanced country has so little knowledge and use of computers.

As for why old games like Diablo 2 and Starcraft 1 aren't popular, no idea. Japan doesn't really like RTS though, they prefer turn based games.

Consoles and Arcades dominate Japan. Their favorite games usually come out on these platforms so there's less incentive to upgrade their PC's.

Seeing this posted right after a youtube link to a japanese commented SC2 match really tickled my whiskers.

I watched an online SC2 JPN tournament. There's a small community but it's there.

I believe they have to play on NA servers? Which would suck for lag.

Blizzard's gone to shit anyway if diablo 3 is any indication.

>> No.8862067

Blizzard has never made a good game in their entire goddamn lifetime. Why should japan even care about those boring games Blizzard makes when they can just walk to the arcade and play the best fighting games, STG's, rhythm games, and puzzle games ever made for dirt cheap?

Plus PC parts are very expensive there.

Seen Yahoo auctions before, someone was selling a P4 system for around 5000Y. While in the US, you can easily get one for less than that.

I agree. Starcraft 2 is a competitive sport, WoW is a social life simulator, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a documentary about an Italian astronaut plumber, and Dance on Broadway is sewer effluence.

What arcades have you been going to? Every one I walk into is full of purikura, ufo machines and medal games. They might have a taiko drum game and one or two other actual games put in as an afterthought, but arcades in Japan aren't about games.

Because Japanese enjoy more console gaming , some of them play PC , like my girlfriends brother , but not many.

Also it may surprise you but the normal Japanese guy/girl has no clue about computers and they dont even care.

Ps. Fuck you OP for bringing the /v/ scum

PC Part aren't that expensive, at least in Akiba, CPU/GPU/HDD/Mobo or Ram price are decent, provided that the JPY isn't in a strong phase (like it was last Winter, this Spring is all right tho).

Also JP have FF XIV, which is probably one of the most demanding MMO on the market, so yeah, if Blizzard games aren't popular, I doubt that's only because of a performance issue. Not to mention that Blizzard games are usually not demanding... (SC2, W3, Diablo or even WoW are way less demanding that their competitors).

More a cultural issue to me rather than pure performance issue. If a game is not fully localized in JP there is little to no chance for JP ppl to pick it up. And even that, gameplay must still fits what JP players like.
