What are some dramas with actual good acting in them?

Or rather, what are some dramas with good actresses in them?

Dunno if it's a sign of a gender inequality in Japan or just a byproduct of cuteness-oriented culture, but whatever I tried had so ridiculously awkward women in it that I just couldn't bear to watch.

It certainly doesn't help that I tried some manga adaptations that had originally assertive women leads that were watered down into the most stereotypical subservient roles imaginable, I guess.
