Did you ever tried shoes like these ?
They looks very comfy, and I always see a lot of people wearing them with traditional clothes.

You should know how uncomfortable any traditional clothing is!

>> No.8583762

We call those thongs in Australia, and everyone wears them instead of shoes, unless it is a higher-class gathering. They are comfy but if they don't fit you properly you will get blisters between your toes after walking long distances. Wearing socks with them doesn't work because the sock pushes them forward, unless the socks are split between the toes but even then it feels weird. And unlike Japan you wouldn't wear them around the house or anything, just when you go outside.

So thongs with no socks = comfier than shoes
Thongs with socks = wtf are you doing nigger?

Yes. For instance, imagine living your life with permanent wedgie.

But all those robes from any area of middle ages are daamn comfy!

The socks are named tabis, and are god-tier when it come to be comfy, seriously.
The shoe in itself is named zori, I think, and are okay, but more for the house and all, going in the city with these is suicid

>> No.8583802

People in Japan wear these every day for work and school. Some men even wield katanas. True story, I saw it in anime.

Those are not sandals. Those are slippers with socks. Yes, there is a difference between slippers and sandals.

I cant imagine why people would wear slippers with socks though. Just wear a normal shoe FFS. Its so much more comfortable.

I have no idea what you'd even wear to a pope coronation besides that, so I don't really get your point.
Anyway, most japanese people don't even wear yukata to those festivals nowadays, showing up in jeans and t-shirt is perfectly normal, for someone not japanese all the more.

I wish Japanese styles had been adapted into modern clothes more. The upper half of robes is pretty cool.
