it's rare that I do but when I have to leave I try and clean myself up, unfortunately all I own are sweatpants and t-shirts which is not usually considered "normal" attire.

Plenty of hikikomori are capable of going outside. In fact in NHK ni Youkoso!, Satou mentions that he can (only) go to the store late at night when nobody is around. I am the same way. I think I would be considered a hikikomori if I was in Japan.

I'm a NEET, not a hikkikomori, so I go outside when the need arises. Bank, market, etc. But I tend to stay in my room as much as possible; just because I really don't find any need to do otherwise.

Hooded sweatshirt and cargo pants. Most of these are from my junior high school / high school days but my size hasn't changed since.

Not really. The current situation in my house doesn't let me to have complete privacy and so I can't lock myself in my room. This should change coming next month though.

For me, for some reason I feel like I'll never be a decent programmer. No matter how much I study, I can't seem to get a grasp of the simplest things, and even to do that I have to re-read the material 10 times.
