I was playing from US East coast on JP servers, and with 400 ping, I barely noticed any latency issues. If you're west europe playing on a USE server, you'll get 180-200. Doubt it'd be an issue, at all.

EU folks, US sub is cheaper and a majority of people will probably be there. Latency isn't an issue either I played from USWest to Europe with 250 ping and it was very playable. I didn't really notice the latency at all.

Yeah, I spent 25+ mins making characters twice and had the client crash on me during creation (1st time) and when trying to name (2nd). Then I got back in and there is a 60+ minute queue to get on the "low" server.

If you're wondering why I would spend so long making chars when they're going to be wiped, it's so that I could save the slider settings once I figured out what I wanted meaning I can then copy the settings when it's time for OBT = It will then take 5 mins instead of 25. OBT characters will allegedly carry over into retail although their levels may be reset... is what they are saying.

I would like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

theres a system very common who has linux and not any gnu component: android. android uses the kernel linux, with a different userland. and every single distro using busybox instead of gnu is using a different userland. still those ones, and the ones using gnu are called "linux"
why? because the base is really similar, because most of the programs this distros have are pretty much the same ones!
how can be almost the same if, some of them have gnu and some others not? because aprox in a distro ONLY 8% IS GNU!! the kernel is actually 9% "http://pedrocr.net/text/how-much-gnu-in-gnu-linux"

I'm glad you recognize the difference. This is why it's proper for most desktop strains of "Linux" to be called GNU/Linux. And It's old, but I doubt the GNU project has put out any less software in recent years:

I'm quoting Rob Pike, who worked on the design of Plan 9. For what it's worth, Bell Labs felt Berkeley ignored the "Unix Philosophy" as well, so arguing over the two is a futile pissing contest. As it is, GNU is more fully featured and portable, so if you use your OS to do things rather than take a nostalgia trip to the 80s when mere POSIX compliance was actually accomodating, it's the better choice.

Yeah but I'm pretty sure I'm on the other server.

I got to level 17 and I'm currently taking a break. Come retail I'll probably join the same server as /a/ and /v/ because it beats braving the guilds that emulate reddit culture and whatnot. I don't think I'll be social with them though!

Basically I'll just wait until the 4chan related guilds fall apart and only the dedicated people remain. It's been a foolproof way of finding tolerable people in games I've played in the past.
