Many people stopped visiting boards and they were self-proclaimed hikikomori and NEETs. Now they have friends and talk with people in some fucking chat rooms.

Do I even want friends? I feel not bad being alone. And I'm too lazy to do anything.

what you're saying isn't related. the only self-proclaimed people on /jp/ were the NEET. even most role-playing NEET have the decency to not pretend they're a hikikomori.

please point me into the direction where there is a hikikomori chat room relating to /jp/ if i'm mistaken.

anyway, i don't know if you want friends. you tell me. being alone isn't bad and neither of having friends. do what you want and don't feel pressured either way.

They don't. But they believe hikikomori is an exclusively Japanese thing that arises from conditions in Japan, so use the term shut-in only.

Not all of us here are hikhikimories here and not all of us are into.......lolies.....here, but most here are. We all look toward a brighter future.

For me no matter how much I tried/try I would always get my spelling off and gramer wrong do to my disabilities and eventually people started knowing who I was, even though I didn't post with a tripname. I explained my many disabilities every time and soon became known as Disability-san by many on /jp/; not to mention most of my threads were Japan related too.

Everyone here has faults, but we are the most respectful to each other here and often relate to one another as humans.

I do call my /jp/ brethren friends. Sloppy Honor is their way, so I shall stay.

yeah? that doesn't have shit to do with being a hikikomori though. you can be a regular shut-in. you can't be a 6 year straight shut-in if you go outside to get food now can you? you possibly think you can, but no one else does.

>> No.8390565

>>8390535
My personal opinion is that a hikki shouldn't actually have friends (as what reason would they have to be a shutin if they did), have been consecutively locked inside their room/apartment for no less than six months, and if they leave it is only for the things absolutely required for the barest of necessities for survival, and only at a time when they will run into the least amount of people possible.

This is a good model of someone with severe social anxiety, and possibly other problems. I think that most NEETs are just lazy normals, but there are probably a few that are socially awkward and generally acceptable.

Hurr why am I even writing this

It's not a fucking game "hurr durr you go outside you lose", idiots.
It's your disability, laziness or style of life you want, you sit at home 99% of your time = you're hikikomori.
There are no fucking rules of being hikikomori, you can only kidding and pretending if you seriously follow some rules.

>barest of necessities for survival
this is the bullshit part. it always is just "barest", but then whenever the story get flushed out it always involves them just taking a stroll outside just to stretch their legs.

i don't agree with the friend part. if you play mmos you're going to meet people and make friends. being truthful about your situation or being them in person is another story entirely.

I disagree with the internet friends thing, for me it's a bridge too far. Then again, I did say it's just my opinion, and I assume you feel the same with yours.

As to necessities, things like handling rent (sometimes the landlord demands the check in person) and getting food or medical supplies. Anything else is a luxury and can be handled via internet or phone. I agree some people would be rather lax with what they call necessary though.

This criteria don't actually matter, as nothing will ever be held against them. And I don't think too many hikkis are itching for my seal of approval. Just a basic guideline with which I judge these things.

like you said this doesn't change anything, but it's still my thoughts on it. it was simply nice to have a word which signaled another learn duration person who was purely inside without leaving. the difference between a person who hasn't left their room in 2 years compared to a person who leaves weekly for "survival" is large.

>the difference between a person who hasn't left their room in 2 years compared to a person who leaves weekly for "survival" is large.
I don't refute this, but we don't all have people willing to handle these things for us. Some hikkis even live alone, and it has been documented in japense cases where the hikki would head out to the convenience store to get food and pay the like. (other than NHK) I should also mention this was just my minimum criteria, and someone going for TRUNEET tier seclusion would be up against tighter scrutiny.

In a perfect world, we would never have to interact with anyone at all, and never need to leave, but as time and time again it's proven, this world is far from perfect.
