So who is up for a trip to Nakano Broadway tomorrow?

>> No.8356402

Is there a point of going to Nakano Broadway if there is Akiba?
While the stores in Akiba are also cramped, you are at least out in the open as soon as you leave them, whereas in Nakano Broadway it's always cramped, no matter where you go.

Didn't you say you'd leave on the 4th?

I will give you an estimate price of how much the shit cost in comiket and akiba.
The average price of 1doujin in comiket - 500yen
Outside of comiket prepare to pay slightly more.
Now we move on the more expensive stuff, stuff from the corporate booth.
Merchandises typically cost around 2000 to 5000yen for shirts, keychains, poster and other special tie in.
For example Toranoana calendar and artbooks are 1000yen each.
Doujin CDs are usually 1000yen each.
Dakimura range from 3000yen to 10000yen.
1500yen/day on food would be more than enough.
Flight and hotel price, you can find them yourself from the internet.

I've been living here a long time, and I like it. If your hobbies are /jp/ related, and you're willing to put in the effort to learn the language well (which actually isn't really that hard if you live here and don't have any non-Japanese friends, which is the case for me), I think it's a fine place to live. I'm not sure if any of the other Anons who came to the meetup are living here long term though.

>>8367706
I'm not sure. We were all too sleepy/drunk to figure out the tab after we finished karaoke I think. But I feel like it was 2k per person + drinks, and we all ordered 1 drink, so you should have been getting like 2.5 - 3k from each of us, I guess?

I had a place in the middle of Shinjuku for many years for about 60,000 a month plus utilities. I went on and off between working odd jobs and going to school, and had a couple fairly long periods of being NEET. Had to leech a lot of money from my parents back in the US, but it worked out alright.

>cosign a lease
Right, I remember this being a bit of a pain. When I first came here, I lived in a dorm for the college I was attending. The apartment I lived, I still belonged to the college (even though I was skipping class and looking to quit), so they cosigned for me. When going back to school (which requires the same kind of cosigner) a few years later to get another visa, I got some random guy from a small family owned English school that I'd done work for a couple times to sign for me. Basically, if you have a job or a school, get someone from there to sign. If not, I do know that there are outfits that will cosign for you, for a fee.

>a landlord that will take gaijin.
I don't think this is really a problem? I've gone through many apartments searching for places to live over here and I never heard of anyone not accepting gaijin as long as you have a cosigner. Maybe if you were trying to live in some backwater town or something.

On my last day in Japan I brought one of the Touhou new year’s lucky bags from White Canvas thinking it would fit in my luggage, but it was far too large for luggage and I had to hand carry it on the outside everywhere. The bag looked like so (pic) and I got lots of smirks particularly at Narita Airport while carrying this around, I was pretty embarrassed.

I too am just happy that customs let me pass through avoiding any potentially embarrassing moments (even though everything I had on me was at most PG rated).

Anyway, it was really nice to meet you all. Who would have thought that a /jp/ meet up could have been such a success? All my initial intuition told me that it would turn into a shit shambles but of course it didn’t. Would like to do it again sometime.

Customs waved me through when I came through today too. Glad they didn't want to check my stuff since the loli doujins might've caused delays and missed connections.

I was hoping they would let me take the Kishida Mel tapestry I got at comiket on the plane, but I had to check it in to oversized luggage. Luckily, I was smart enough to take the tapestry off and only check in the poles because the airline shipped those poles to the wrong place. So I'm still awake, after being unable to sleep on both flights because babbies all around and not sleeping the night before because of the meetup, waiting for the airport to deliver my plastic poles to me sometime in the next couple of hours.

It was a good meetup though, I would do it again. Thinking about going again next winter, but not sure yet.

Pic related. Trying to unpack when I got back, the piles of shit go around both corners...

Excluding the comiket stuff, a lot of junk Anonymous. Pictured are a few things I’ve photographed.

More usual stuff in that lot, includes:
- Stuff from the Madoka exhibition out at Ikebukuro.
- Shrine/temple stuff including a tengu charm from Hansobo Shrine (crow tengu everywhere there), lucky cats from Gotoku-ji temple and an “anti-evil” arrow from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine that a couple of Japanese friends brought for me when we were out there for new year’s prayers. I apparently have to return the arrow back to the shrine next year for incineration.
- Galaxy Angel production sketches.

Excluding the stuff they got at Comekit, I’d be interested in seeing what some of the others also got.
