all mods right now are global, which is bad because they have to go through a lot of ban reports. if one mod were maybe assigned to two or three boards he would be able to work better

Being the image board expert that you are, I'm sure you can name 10 mods off the top of your head. And on top of that, there are more that aren't really active in IRC or whatever. I've spoken to both Mr. 8 and Fiona on Facebook. Both are confirmedly mods but nobody else really knows about them (and I'm not sure if I should be saying this).
Moderation is intended to be anonymous just like everything else.
