/jp/ smartphone general?
I got myself a droid. Are there any apps I should know about?

I already have a Mahjong one (Virtual Tenhou) but aside from that and Anki I haven't really bothered looking too much into it (I was disappointed there were no official niconico apps though).

As far as /jp/ apps go, iphone is kind of winning.

iPhone:
-deathsmiles
-most other cave shmups
-monster hunter
-final fantasy tactics
-Chrono Trigger
-Ragnarok online MMO
-Barcode kanojo (ultimate waifu generatin, datin, touchin, stealin game)
-raiden, salamander, and twin bee as part of hudsonsoft retro app
-interactive meruru/oreimo/other girl anime apps where you pet them and they wish you "merry kurismasu!" on December 25th
-"sleep with little sister", which is similar to the above apps only she sleeps beside you and breaths gently all night to keep you company.

Android:
-disgaea
-barcode kanojo (but it still doesn't work)
-cave games slowly but surely

There may be some poorly made vocaloid apps I left out. iphone has a lot of random leek spinning apps and shit like that.

It' similar to the PC program where the girl is generated on your desktop with a webcam, only this is the phone version.

>At its recent press event in Tokyo, it was revealed that NIS America will be bringing the original Disgaea to North American Android devices. We got some details on how this works.

>The world and general setting will be that of the original Disgaea, which debuted on PS2 in 2003, but focus more on the Item World rather than the goings on outside. Instead of starting with Laharl and joining him on his quest to obtain the throne of the Netherworld, players will start with merely a Prinny as the one and only solider in the army. Downloading the game will be free and require no subscription, but players will pay for each individual character they choose to bring into their fold.

So... One prinny only, and you buy each additional character (including the main cast) individually through microtransactions.

I got an Archos 101, it's 10.1" 16:9 and supports MKVs natively (unlike most tablets), but costs more than $200 perhaps.

If you want to watch MKVs MX Player does support it but it'll be running them via software decoding, which will depend on your processor power. Pretty much all MKV work on my tablet, but some sub groups have an absurdly high Reference Frame number for their videos, and anything over 13 won't play on it (Blu Ray rips only need like 8 ReFrames though, no idea why they go so high).

If you're willing to convert I guess a lot more tablets are open to you.

Honestly, though, there aren't that many apps for it that I'm aware of and there isn't much you can do with it other than read manga or something, in which case, is that really worth 200+?

Depends on what he intends to use it for.
I use mine as a manga reader, anime viewer as well as an android platform (I have an iPhone but some things are android exclusive, frustratingly enough).

I could've gotten a 7" version of my tablet for 2/3 of the price though, at which point it becomes a near bargain. I could've also bought my tablet for 86% of its price but I only heard of the deal after I bought it.

Where can I find Virtual Tenhou? Couldn't find it on the market.
Also another mahjong game: Andjong, it's on the market and open source as well.

I also made a mahjong helper app. You can determine your point/score with it. It also has yaku lists. It's not on the market yet because I have to pay 25$ to register and I can't afford it right now.
If you are interested, please try it, I'd like to get feedback on it.

As for your app... sorry, nothing personal but I only install stuff from the official app store.

There is also a "Saki" Mahjong app but IMHO virtual tenhou is the best one out there right now (at least when it comes to free ones, I have no idea if there are paid ones in Japan that are worth it).

Also, I got myself Ankidroid but I am kinda lazy when it comes to making my own cards. Any kanji learning app people can recommend?

By the way, I didn't mean for the thread to be android exclusive, it's just what I got.

>>8207919
I've yet to "play" a VN if I have to be honest. Any reccomendations or already converted ones?

Actually, I'm sure that's possible (android).
But I'm not sure that Japan/anyone will do it soon enough.
It should be easy to do, making a fake sms/mail app auto-sending texts (or editing an already existing and genuine one). Same thing for calls.
I have yet to play Love Plus, but if the content (texts and calls) already exist, it can be done.
