So wait, moot officially condones and supports archives now? I always thought he was against them since he wants 4chan to be "ephemeral" or whatever, and only put up with them as long as they don't cause a lot of strain on the site.

>> No.8118800

I'm glad eksopl released all his relevant archival data before he died.

Me too. He was a good man. ;_;

It's a honeypot.
He will then ask your for your server's IP in order to perma-firewall it.

Silly goyim.

He could just whois the server and get the IP that way. It's not like most archivers will use two computers, right?

Also, what's the official /jp/ archive? Is it Warosu or foolz?

>i don't like them but there are a lot and people use them

Seems like the biggest server strain is caused by extensions that preload images too actively (5,10, 30 seconds) and not so much by the slow scrapers.

>>8118818
The official /jp/ archive was, is, and always will be http://archive.easymodo.net/

eksopl promotes foolz for some reason. Most people are leaning towards warosu, they don't like the idea of foolz being run by an /a/ tripfriend who craves attention and needs money.

foolz: shitposting galore
warosu: slow as fuck

I use warosu

Oh, thanks for the link.

Glad to hear a solid response about the issue of archives from moot himself.

HOW ABOUT BOTH

thus when one goes down we can flock to the other, and vice versa

>> No.8118868

>>8118859
>we can flock to the other
Remember when archives were about archiving and not about shitghostposting?

Actually, yes, I do remember.

>> No.8118869

We respect Moot's opinion like we respect Zun's.

We don't

>> No.8118878

>>8118869
Actually just as a knee-jerk response, I'd care more about what Zun wants than mootles. /b/, moot's home board, doesn't exactly earn my respect.
Anyway, worst he could do is force improvements to the script by banning server IP's, he doesn't actually have legal grounds to shut archives down. And it sounds like even moot, despite his /b/oard's senseless randomly destructive nature and general aggro complex, understands that archives are useful tools.

>> No.8118882

>>8118868

Actually I meant for archival purposes.

Archives just go down, you know?

I don't recall him actually saying anything against archives before.

>>8118827
I'm pretty sure he's just being ironic.

>>8119746
Ironic enough to set the easymodo address to redirect to foolz?

>> No.8120004

>>8119753
Presumably it's because foolz archives all the boards that easymodo used to.

http://archive.easymodo.net/
>Old Easymodo links redirect to foolz.us because they got there first and took all the boards. So, for the sake of consistency, since they're the only ones running all the boards I previously hosted here, and because I absolutely loathe 404s, I'm redirecting all the old links to them.
