One big shit of a language.

Do you think I'm making up some crazy argument? There is actually a fairly large discourse going on in Japan right now regarding this very subject.

For example, this recently published book 'Kanji is the Destruction of the Japanese Language'.

>> No.8022885

The whole language of Japanese is archaic and needs to be abolished.

Things would make more sense if the whole world just adopted the dominant language of the world, english.

Ever heard of hiragana and katakana?

>> No.8022905

Why? It provides instant recognition of a word in a single character.

>>8022887

Hiragana can be interpreted to have multiple meanings, and given that Japan does not believe in spaces between words, anything written in all hiragana would be ugly to read.

>> No.8022913

Then just add the spaces.
They already do it for text meant to read by kids.

>> No.8022916

Anyone who thinks Japanese would be better off with just Hiragana and Katakana is an ENORMOUS idiot. So are you suggesting they replace Kanji with something else? If you're suggesting they just adopt another language you're still an enormous idiot. So what are you saying? Just because you can't learn Kanji you hate it probably.

There are too many kanji, and it is difficult to remember how to read and write them. This goes for foreigners and Japanese people.

Processing kanji is more time consuming on word processors and computers.Text that uses a mixture of kanji and kana requires kanji conversion, which is inefficient in comparison to text that only uses kana or rōmaji.

It can potentially cause class warfare.

Nothing wrong with writing everything in hiragana and katakana. Just use spaces.

The homophone argument is a shit argument because we deal with homophones just fine in English, and it's not like you can speak in kanji.

Subliterate Japanese would be subliterate in any other language; given how godawful westerners who are interested in Japan are, a barrier is actually a good thing; so far as I can tell there isn't a substantial difference in the time it takes for children to achieve literacy, likewise reading speed.

>complexity in my languages.
Why use only 10 symbols to represent the broad range of natural numbers then?

We should use a combination of 50,000 different symbols to truly represent the complexity and importance that counting and math has in our life and culture.
Simple writing in math is what makes people lazy towards it and is the main reason the average adult can't even do simple two digit multiplication without using a calculator.

>> No.8023086

You don't realize this because of your autism, but people with non-broken brains don't individually consider each digit of a number except where prompted. 47 is 47, not 4 x 10^1 + 4 x 10^0. This is even reflected in language: look at the Danish numbering system.

This hooligan is a bit retarded.
But that made me wonder just how many people study literature or philosophy in Japanese. Since it's a highly ambiguous language, I'd guess that even when they can actually read every old or uncommon kanji, they'll have a real hard time understanding the meaning.

Sure, that will keep retarded people out, but will also make it hard for young people to get interested about Japanese literature in their youth (other than light novels). Smart people are more likely to get into science and math rather than humanities, which is beneficial to Japan since they're all about technology.

Rather than dividing people into groups, this works more in favor of a given academics agenda.

I agree, but it would need to be gradual.

For example, in Year 1 that useless letter "c" would be dropped to be replased either by "k" or "s", and likewise "x" would no longer be part of the alphabet. The only kase in which "c" would be retained would be the "ch" formation, which will be dealt with later. Year 2 might reform "w" spelling, so that "which" and "one" would take the same konsonant, wile Year 3 might well abolish "y" replasing it with "i" and iear 4 might fiks the "g/j" anomali wonse and for all.

Generally, then, the improvement would kontinue iear bai iear with iear 5 doing awai with useless double konsonants, and iears 6-12 or so modifaiing vowlz and the rimeiniing voist and unvoist konsonants. This doesn't really say much. Of course, if you take it to the extreme you would strip the language of it's coherency. However, making it a tad more phonetic and getting rid of c wouldn't hurt.

Also "y", doesn't make an "i" sound, so replacing it makes little sense.
