so do you like gnome-shell?
i wanted to try it out but i had weird glitches all the time which is probably because of my shitty ati graphic card.

I can't really speak for hardware compatibility. The machine I'm running it off of is an Intel ITX board with integrated everything so it's all very FOSS friendly hardware. If you're planning on giving it another go, you should wait a bit; GNOME 3.2 will be packaged in Fedora 16 which is due out next month. Among other things it takes some user feedback into account and has a handful of minor usability updates over the original version.

I like the strong emphasis on workspaces and it's second nature to me now to be jumping around all the time between them instead of hunting minimized apps on the taskbar. That's sort of what I already used to do with GNOME 2. I don't think they really achieved their goal of discoverability, though. I can imagine it being a real pain in the dick to use for a novice who hasn't taken a few minutes to google and familiarize themselves with the keyboard shortcuts.

It's also a pretty radical design overall and it's not surprising it's caught a lot of flak. To each his own, though.
