For a time, I used to think that /a/ could be saved, or that it was still better than /v/, but really, the past few weeks have changed that outlook completely.

K-ON is the true masterpiece of our generation.
I watched different SoL such as Azumanga daioh, Lucky Star or Hidamari Sketch and I liked them, but K-ON reached a whole new level.
K-ON is a deconstruction of the SoL genre, it's a classic that will still be mentioned in the recommendation charts in 15 years.
It has likeable original characters that don't fall in the tsundere/yandere/kuudere/whatthefuckyouwantdere clichés. In fact, everyone would have shitty waifu without K-ON.
Its OST is clearly awesome and heart warming (if you don't wake up with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9LTtFQw7KI your days must really be boring).
Contrary to what the cool kids on /a/ claim, K-ON does have a plot, in each episode there's a situation that is intended to be solved. Of course, that is not as complex as the DEEPfag would like, because K-ON only aims at being fun and entertaining and not full of symbolism shit.

That's why the success of its sales is clearly deserved.
Bakemonogatari and Madoka may have sold more DVD and BR, but they're pretty poor (especially Bakemonogatari).
The first one is a typical harem with a beta MC that vainly tries to compensate its lack originality with a "unique" pretentious artstyle.
