The story:
It used to be just wikia. then when the Wikia owners added some harsh terms and conditions a ton of people jumped ship and created the wiki
They are very similar because the wiki started as a rehosted wikia, and the wikia cribs a ton of new stuff from the wiki.

The story is the same for any wiki that used to be hosted at wikia.
Jimbo figured that he was dumb enough to make wikipedia a nonprofit, he built wikia upon 'pedia's goodwill, then took frequent shits all over it.

You don't want to see interstitials about 3d sluts in your geolocated city when reading about touhous.

And because of the open licences, you can't move away from wikia. The wiki you start there are never yours to begin with, because lol free culture

It should be clear just by looking at it that en.touhouwiki.net is a million times better.
