But I don't get the hype around Kaguya. She took the hourai elixir and became exiled then she liked living there. Then she got in over her head and made people do impossible tasks she knew couldn't be done, risking their lives for nothing and she got no punishment. Some valid points though. The Kaguya of Touhou is not painted in a very sympathetic light at all. But then again a lot of these Touhou final bosses have never been exactly sympathetic characters. yes, even yuyuko, whose whole motive for TH7 was basically "OOOH WHAT DOES THIS BUTTON DO"

I think since ZUN did base her loosely around that Kaguya-hime story, there probably was no room for sympathy for her. About Yuyuko however, I know that she didn't really have any motive since it was Yukari who missed her friend causing all this, but I still can sympathize with Yuyuko because she had no memory of herself and she basically plays the puppet role.

Adding on. Remilia, Kaguya, Tenshi, and somewhat Utsuho are the 4 characters who I don't like the most, I really dislike all of their motives, mostly because many others' motives had beautiful intent that simply caused negative harm to innocent people, which is how everything is. Remilia and Utsuho seem the most selfish to me though because Kaguya was being selfless to her earth friends and Tenshi is very innocent and childlike, even with being a brat. Even so, every character has their flaws and selfish habits, so to this day I still regard Byakuren as the most selfless and most beautiful.
