So what do you reckon the god of the Hakurei Shrine would be like if she decided to become a boss? looks, personality, danmaku?

I'm thinking, even more "not give a fuck" than Reimu but with a super-annoying elderly mentor aspect thing going on. She'd probably also wear red and white but in some stranger fashion. Dunno if I'd make her super-loli like Suwako though.

What about you dudes?

I think she'd be a huge pain in the ass.

For everyone.

She'll appear one day, strip Reimu of her powers, and hunt down the youkai sages so she can tear down her barrier and remake Gensokyo.

How many times do i need to tell you that is just a scam Reimu is making to get money easily ?
But unlike Tewi, she failed and not getting any money so she had to become a part-time bandit, attacked and looted 3 mansions, 2 shrines, a village, a ship and a temple.
There is no god.

Whoa!... Wait a minute!... She doesn't get compensation for all that headaches?... Then how does she support herself!?... While Gensokyo is devoid of modern (in)conveniences like Electricity (bill) Teleophone (bill) and Internet (bill) she still needs money to get a variety of stuff needed to support her lifestyle... unless she grows her own food and stuff but... can someone shed some light on this?... I don't think donations alone will be enough...

Relax Mugen, the very lack of income is what started the whole poverty Reimu fad, and it's nothing but that, a fad.

As shown in the mangas, Reimu has both a huge garden filled with fruit trees and other vegetation. She also apparently has a nearby river since she was shown fishing a titanic fish (which was later blown to bits by the mischevious fairies).

Rinnosuke also mentions that money isn't worth for Reimu herself, and PMiSS mentions that Reimu's shrine's main goal is to increase faith basically, which is adquired by the number of followers; the more followers there is, the more the shrine needs to expand, and for that, donations are needed. Hence, there's no need for money unless there's followers and that the money came from them in form of donations.

>>7668538
No can do, that would mean having to hunt her precious youkai as a job. Since Reimu has equal treatment for both humans and youkai regardless of their status (gods, hermits, etc.), she's the one that fits the role.

Perhaps it's not just one god but multiple entities? Reimu is able to call pretty much any god after all(see SSiB and WaHH) and ask them for whatever she wants.

>> No.7668853

Reimu says she doesn't know what the blessings of her shrine are. That sounds like she doesn't talk to her god or even know who it is. Which is rather strange.

While it's true that she can communicate with any god or spirit, a shrine only holds a single god (dunno how the issue is over there at the Moriyas). The Hakurei god has also been referred to as a single entity (''it'') previously.

>>7668853
She doesn't know because nobody has ever picked a charm after donating (maybe Yukari). There's no shown dialogue of the god but it's known that it's alive at least, and it's still communicating emotions. The most recent display (that I remember) is in UFO where Byakuren somehow senses the Hakurei god's mood.

http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Perfect_Memento_in_Strict_Sense/Divine_Spirit

>Divine spirits, not possessing a body, usually live in a Shinto shrine or in a smaller shrine

>There is a considerable lack of spirits in a shrine, so revealing their forms to people is something that mostly never happens. They speak so faintly that ordinary humans can't hear them. For this reason, those who carry the duty of facilitating communication are shrine maidens.

If you read the whole article, you can see that divine spirits are basically the same thing as a god, at least in the shrine living/faith business.

It's very likely that Reimu's shrine actually hosts a divine spirit, one that is responsible for the foundation of Gensokyo. The above note also explains why we never get to see it, plus, _we_ barely ever get to see Reimu alone inside the shrine, since Marisa has the compulsive need of having to stay within 2 feet of Reimu about 95% of her lifetime.

The god of Gensokyo is a dragon. It didn't show itself ever since the barrier's creation. It's NOT the same entity as the resident god of the Hakurei shrine.

It's Reimu who's supposed to be doing that.

Well, she may be her own god, why not? Sanae is one too. And Byakuren's words fit, she IS angry that she doesn't get followers.

>> No.7669173

>>7669157
I meant that the Hakurei Shrine is the PLACE that is behind the current maintenance of Gensokyo's barrier, it also holds the (normal) gateway to the outside world.

Reimu herself is the guardian, along with Yukari, and is the balance between the existence and dissappearance of Gensokyo, without the shrine's god, she wouldn't have any kind of influence or inheritance of her Hakurei powers (it'd be just a common building), but it wouldn't matter because half a nanosecond later everything and everybody would cease to exist.

Of course, the building itself doesn't matter much, as long as the god still lives, it can host itself on any place/object that reeks of god-ness.

For starters, I think there was something in the comics, too, but can't remember where. Well, it was Rinnosuke's idea, but Reimu isn't all "no no won't do total destruction", so at least as far as she knows it's safe.

Also, Reimu has her priorities straight, as always:
>"You're mistaken, Reimu. A shrine losing faith can be fatal."
>"I guess you're right, since I wouldn't get any offerings."

Oh, but that doesn't rule out what was previously mentioned.

The shrine would still have a god, which would become the new Hakurei god, the shrine would still be inhabited. The only that would change is its name.

Judging by that article, the only ones who knew the god's name were the previous Hakurei shrine maidens. Reimu became the shrine maiden at a very young age with her family nowhere in sight, it's possible that her family died or dissappeared without having told her everything.

There's a probable difference from Rinnosuke's teachings about gods warding off youkai and Gensokyo.

Well, CoLA's timeline is that of right after PCB to the beginning of SSiB (which is right after IN).

Judging by pretty much every manga afterwards (mostly SaBND, SSiB and WaHH), Reimu either learned or knew (knew ceremonies) a ton of shrine maiden-ness right afterwards. While she still has a lazy attitude and still has the problem of youkai-filled-forest-right-next-to-home, she should be a full fledged shrine maiden now, in terms of knowledge.

Note that it wasn't until SSiB that Reimu learned to properly chat and channel the essence of the gods.
