Also I use the "official" 4chan extension with my FF. It's been having some compatibility issues since the guy who made it takes a long time to update to the current FF version (if at all). I didn't like 4chan X. If anything I prefer 4chan Plus, I got it on my laptop with Chrome on it and it's really nice. Too bad there's no report button though.

firefox has a slim 2ch browser and customizable search bar plugins (allows to choose 10+ different search engines with just a click on the icon, and has right click integration so you can look shit up without copying and pasting), rather than having to type random shit I can't be assed to remember before the search terms.
So latest Firefox for me, though it's not like I was dissatisfied with Chrome, it's just that I like some of the Firefox extensions better.

Firefox 5, because I've used it since the first version was in beta and I've got a shitload of addons which functionality cannot be accurately reproduced in other browsers. I also have Chrome and Opera installed just for kicks. Chrome seems to load really fucking fast, I believe it pre-caches links when a page is loaded or you move the mouse close to them or something.

So, can we use this thread to recommend each other Firefox add-ons for our /jp/ related habits? I have two I want to speak up for, which have significantly improved my browsing experience, and I hope you guys have some others which will help me further.

FireGestures. Bind "change to tab on the left" to a straight line to the left, and right for tab on the right. Makes it extremely easy to flip through tabs quickly, without having to click each tab. Other functions I recommend gestures for is close tab, reload and scroll to top/bottom. But the most important one is save image, I have that bound to a single line down. Combine this with Automatic Save Folder (setting all image files to be automatically saved to whatever folder you save images in), and you'll be go through images in multiple tabs and save them really quickly.

The other is Scroll Search Engines, which finally motivated me to start using the search bar. Lets you just mouse over the search bar and scroll with the scroll wheel to change engines, or when highlighting a word. Not particularly revolutionary, but it's nice when someone is talking about an eroge I haven't heard about yet, I can just highlight the name in his post, scroll to VNDB, and automatically get a new tab searching for the name in VNDB. Or when browsing DLsite, I can do the same to check if it's in my favorite hash database. Add to Search Bar is needed to, should go without saying. And I also like Searchbar Autosizer, since it adds an option to empty the search field after searching for something, something which has always annoyed me when I search through typing something in.

There's an idea I want to propose. When you're in a thread and want to post without referring to a post number, you have two options:
1. Going to the top and replying the normal way, which is annoying, since it reloads the page and marks your post in the URL, unlike quick reply.

The search engine one seems unnecessary. You can add keywords to any search box in Firefox. Just rightclick a search box and choose "Add a keyword for this search".

For me browsing is not a race but a long-term travel, so I put comfort over the speed. I have both browsers installed and they are both fine. Chrome is more light-weighted but I haven't stacked it with addons, so not sure about real memory consumption. Firefox users should be careful with extension obsession, some addons are badly written, and eat a lot of RAM and slow down page processing. With tuned setup I dont see much difference in terms of speed between FF and Chrome.

Chrome has multi-processing, Firefox doesn't which makes the whole browser hang if one tab hang. Unless you have only a single core/threaded processor.

Firefox is faster in opening tabs and printing, Chrome is faster in rendering and javascript.

I personally benchmarked Chrome dev, Firefox 5, Nightly 32 and 64bit and Opera Next.
I opened 400+ bookmarks,
Chrome and Opera Next had about the same RAM usage, Chrome was more responsive thanks to multi-processing.
Nightly 64bit's RAM usage kept growing thanks to memory leaks and was barely usable.
Firefox 5 and Nightly 32 bit both crashed because of the memory limitation.

The choice of the browser is all about: habits, fashion and convenience.

Habits is more suited for Opera and FF users. Opera was clearly the best browser at some time, so many users get used to it. FF was first browser to provide access to wast number of addons created by community and you get attached to it too.

Fashion is for Chrome. The browser was fresh, and it was from Google and everyone love this company. Google is trendy stuff and so is Chrome. More hype = more users.

But in Firefox, there is a bug between max-width and table elements, which forces us to apply that workaround.

If you don't use fit width or fit screen, delete what's highlighted on the picture, and it should work.
