I am finally cute, thanks OP!

I didn't know I was that cute.

Is it that bad that I enjoy Touhou because it's fun and easy and lacks those huge, shitty spaceship bosses and even shittier techno-beats?

I think it's clear to see who's the winner here.

Touhou is the only modern shmup that's actually legitimately hard.

Dodonpachi, Ketsui, and Mushihimesame are only hard because their graphics are a clusterfuck where you can barely tell what's going on. Bullets are big ugly globs, fiery explosions everywhere (and bullets are orange), backgrounds are too busy, and lol I'm supposed to just KNOW where my hitbox is?

Shmups should have crisp, simple graphics.

Rectumwrecked Reimu spotted.

No, seriously, touhou isn't even hard.

Yes it is, you just don't notice because you're so good at video games!

>> No.7540304

Yes but your opinion is not fact.

>> No.7540319

>>7540301
No no no you got it wrong, I think you only find it hard because you're unfamiliar with how the genre plays, much like CasualHaloFanJoe thinks fighting games are hard to learn.

>> No.7540330

>>7540319
Quit being Reimu.

>> No.7540340

>>7540319
Fighting games ARE hard to learn though. They're a memorization-based genre that appeals to nerds. There's a reason they've fallen out of vogue since gaming became "mainstream."

>> No.7540344

>>7540226
I'll agree with the clusterfuck of graphics thing but Touhou is a very easy shump compared to others

>> No.7540348

>>7540344

I have to agree that it's one of the easier ones at least. Still tougher than most games I've played though...

Well, we can't compare different genres, but I guess it takes more time to finish even than games bigger in size.

>> No.7540363

Touhou is a hard game and an easy shmup.

>>7540359

Yeah. Although if we're going by hours I guess it took me about the same amount of time as an average game...Just with a lot more deaths and a larger struggle.

Memorization where

>> No.7540520

I don't really get it what people mean when they say this >>7540344
Touhou isn't a game. It's a franchise and there are many Touhou games.
Also you may want to clarify on what you think is easy. There's a difference between simply 1cc'ing and achieving a decent score.

>> No.7540525

>>7540387
If you can't tell that Touhou was meant to be a more aesthetic shmup by the clearer colourful patterns, simpler more tame backgrounds, and more melodic than noisy music

Then you haven't been playing one or either of them.

>> No.7540530

>>7540344
Yeah you're missing the point though. Would Dodonpachi be significantly harder if it had a similar graphic style to Touhou?

>> No.7540532

This is /v/?

>> No.7540548

Also, Ketsui is fake difficulty to the max:

Ketsui is only hard because its scoring system requires you to play in a very specific way. Get close to enemy, shoot it to death, use focus-shot on other enemies until timer runs down, repeat.

It's like No Fun Allowed: The Game.

How the fuck are you even supposed to figure the scoring system out without a guide? People always say DDP has a "boring" scoring mechanic but at least DDP is intuitive. You get points for defeating enemies. You get MORE points for defeating enemies with great efficiently.

yes

I don't really think about those sorts of things admittedly.

Somebody hasn't actually tried chaining.
