Are fairies considered Youkai?

>> No.7539651

Youkai is basically anything supernatural, so yes.

According to Suika, oni are not youkai. Why?

Suika's a dirty, little liar.

>> No.7540003

Fairies are just a subclass of Youkai, like tengu, oni or kappa.

>> No.7540004

>>7539651
Well according to that definition gods should be considered youkai too, and they aren't.

Oni never lie, shithead.

>> No.7540026

Youkai are basically their version of the "fae".
Dwarfs, Elfs, Sprites, Fairies, various kinds of spirits, etc etc were all part of the fae. Dragons? They weren't.
I figure this is pretty much the same, no?

Oni are youkai but youkai are not oni. Similar to how revolvers are pistols but pistols are not revolvers.

Also, yousei are necromancers.

At least some scholar Touhous agree, actually.

No, but now that you mention it I did get the order reversed.

Point was that while oni are youkai, how clear the classification is depends on which end you look at it from - from the top down, oni are clearly youkai, but from the bottom up oni are also very distinct.

Akyu says so, it must be true. Ok, professor.

Akyu is quite the hack, and this is just another example. In Suika's ending of IaMP, she says that she was branded as a troublemaker and vagrant by the other Onis since she was not always truthful.

She admits to lying. Deal with it.

a little different from reality != lies

Censoring Yukari's defeat against the Moon doesn't mean everything else she has written is a lie. Plue a lot of other characters have thrown the "Oni don't lie" around.

>> No.7540234

>>7540207
Actually, yes, different from reality == lies.

>doesn't mean everything else she has written is a lie
>everything

Wait, are you seriously arguing against this? That's pretty retarded, even for a strawman.

>This isn't entirely impossible because oni don't lie
She isn't sure herself. If oni don't lie at all, then there's no reason to doubt and she could say "this is certainly true", not "possible".
