I took my 11 year old imouto to an anime con 3 months ago. First time I've ever been to one. My mom asked me to take her so that she wouldn't have to go she even paid for both tickets so I got in free. Fortunately my powerlevel is extremely well hidden from my family.

I expected it to be bad just based on /a/ and /cgl/, but it was even worse in person. fat girls, fat girls everywhere. Tons of guys crossdressing as female characters (including one incredibly manly Bridgette who had to be at least 6'6". there were also groups of people roleplaying everywhere and teen girls acting slutty, and a few snobbish attractive ones with elaborate costumes in the judged contest who no doubt were crazy.

I don't watch much anime that isn't /jp/ related so most of the characters I didn't recognize. I did look for Touhou and found one moderately attractive Reimu and a slightly chubby asian girl cosplaying Aya. That was it, 2 out of hundreds.

My sister had a good time, however after 6 hours I couldn't take it anymore and I brought her home.

I guess the highlight for me was picking up a Saber figure and some Gundam stuff from the merchants. All in all an utterly forgettable experience.
