'sup /jp/. I don't come here much (more of a /k/o/mu/ guy myself) but I need your help.

I'm a closet Touhoufag who plays a lot of music, and has a big collection of sheet music, including a lot of Touhou themes.
However, since I don't want anybody to discover that I play Touhou, I rename the Touhou sheets so someone browsing through my collection can't find the original by looking it up on Google, Youtube etc.

So, what do I need help with? I need suggestions of alternate names for Strawberry Crisis, Bad Apple, Dark Side of Fate and Faith is for the Transient People. Most themes are pretty easy to rename, but I have no idea what to call these.

The name needs to be different enough from the original to not show it or its arranges and covers when it's searched on Google or Youtube, but similar (or at least relevant to the character) so I can tell what it is at a glance. Also should fit the mood of the tune.

Pic sort of related, I guess, since it's got ZUN and musicians.

So...you want us to name your sheet music that you got from Touhou so that people won't know it's Touhou music from the name?

You're worried about people caring about you liking Touhou? Are you in high school? Will they steal your lunch money and give you a nuggie?

>> No.7458962

Name them the complete opposite for example Orange Peace or something similar
You will associate them with the originals instantly

Stop being beta.
If people ask, just say you heard the music and liked it, googled it and it was some chink shit, but music is music so you promptly discarded everything but the beats.

>> No.7458972

that is pretty dumb

>> No.7458973

It's just music, OP. If it bothers you so much you could just bury the Touhou folder into a different folder.

>> No.7458977

OP's pic is funny because ZUN's trumpet is an edited mariachi trumpet sample.

>> No.7458970

Why so insecure? If the music is your main interest about Touhou, then there's nothing to be afraid of.
And even if you are a full-blown Touhoufag, just don't let them discover your Remilia x Mutant Pig H-manga.

You're assuming people would recognise touhou songs from their titles, which they probably wouldn't.

is there any more info about where that horn patch came from? i've been dying to have an arsenal of ZUN horns at my disposal. i've got a korg trinity and a bunch of softsynths and i can't get any of those to sound like that.

and if someone is familiar enough with touhou that they'd recognize song titles, odds are they'd think it was cool as shit you're performing them.

I usually never get surprised by stuff people say on 4chan, but wow. THAT is fucking autistic.

ZUN's trumpet is a patch called "Romantic Tp", which is a variant of the "Mariachi Tp" from Roland's SR-JV80-18 expansion board for their professional synths. This patch can also be found in the SD-20, SD-80, SD-90, and some Roland keyboards released in the early 2000s.

You can find ZUN's soundfonts here.

I can upload a cracked copy of cubase too, if you give me time to upload it.

THFont and soundfonts in general are not the same as running a sound module whatsoever. It's the poor man's attempt to make it sound passable.

i've never used cubase but i know a lot of pros use it. (been programming in ableton and on the korg trinity myself) i'd love to learn it if you wanna go to all the effort of uploading for me!

ZUN doesn't use soundfonts. Actually, that soundfont you linked to has none of the instruments used by ZUN, save for the trumpet. Plus you wont be able to edit it to sound as intended because soundfonts are inflexible as hell.

I... just don't know what to say.
It's good but why is he so angry at the beggining? Is he angry because he's not mexican?
Back to touhou, though. Thinking about touhou mariachi led me to other ideas: Touhou ranchera, touhou cumbia, touhou danzon, touhou bolero. Seriously, I don't know if I really want those to exist or not.

Here's Cubase SX, the same version ZUN uses when he composes his music.

Here's a tool to play .sf2 files, multithreaded version so you can load multiple instruments from the same file.

I suggest using a keyboard. You can get a cheap, pressure-sensitive one for less than a hundred dollars.

Also, step editing does wonders for perfect notes.

No, it doesn't. Just compare the fingered bass and the saw waves used in the games to the ones in that soundfont and you'll see that they sound nothing alike.
