I'm to self critical to ever buy one of these... it would bring me more grief then pleasure. Just thinking of my waifu while hugging a normal pillow is enough. I bought a small house on about 1.2 acres back when I was working. Now that natural gas drilling in the area has gone full tilt everyone within a few miles of a gas well gets ~$800-1500 per acre per month in royalties depending on what company you sign with. Not as much dakimakura talk as I expected to find. I did a general shop look up today from my bookmarks to see how these things fared.

Good selection of prints, inofficial ones, 35-40 dollars.
Almost all sold out, official ones, 120 dollars.

So going cheaper and having a lot of choose from seems optimal. Or is there any real reason to wait and pre-order a new official one?

Go for the better quality one - you can tell from fabric material. While it might not make much different to the maker's bottom line, there is a world of difference between $3.5 per metre square and the 3.8's. >> No.7353826

The general rule is to get a Japanese one if you have a waifu, or a bunch of cheap Chinese ones if you have a harem. Unless you're so rich that it doesn't matter how many Japanese ones you got, or you're so poor that even one Japanese one is too expensive. But it's also worth checking whether you can get any out-of-print ones from Chinese sellers, since unless you've been following all new releases for the past 5 years, you're likely to have missed out on a lot of good ones which you'll never have a chance to buy original again.

Depends. Some of the larger makers can get a little generic, due to mainly just wanting to capitalize on whatever is popular right now and not caring too much about the characters. But doujin ones are the exact opposite.

Personally I'm a fan of the idea that they turn red whenever she takes an offensive stance of sorts, especially since the two times she's appeared as a danmaku-spellcarded enemy (PCB, and apparently IN Last Word) she's had red eyes.
