Nah, they're douchebags and don't take it easy at all.
I remember reading a thread on there where they were angrily arguing for 200 posts about how to best write 東京 (Tokyo) in Latin characters.
I was also the only one on there who spoke halfway decent Japanese, and fulfilled practically all the translation requests they had during my stay just by myself. On 4chan/jp/ I'm far from alone with my 日本語 skills.
And like all boards on Krautchan (except /int/) the majority of them are just plain dumb, and when you write something on there you better be prepared for having to explain it to them again and again in baby-speak.
