So what's needed, artistically and crafting, to get into Volks dolls? It seems like they require you to paint on the mouth and eyebrows? Are you supposed to get the base body and head and work from there, or do you get the named dolls, or what?

I have a lot of money to spare, so the price isnt too much of an issue, but I'd rather not waste it with my horrible shakey hands.

60cm. She has the 2010 Doll's Gathering DDH-04 head on a normal DDII base body. The wig is a crobidoll crwl-41 (powder brown). It is a bit too big, so it falls off easier than her old Volks wig. The glasses' arms are too long, and need to be altered so they fit her better. Projects. :)

I have a couple to DDS bodies and I dislike how large they have made the elbow joints. Also very rarely have I needed to pose the dolls into a position that can only be achieved with a DDS. In all the bodies not that much of an enhancement.

The DD stands finally came back in to stock earlier this week. I picked up a stand, and 4 more sets of hands (I have a complete set now!). It is so much fun to have Kanade-chan pose for me standing up. You can do extremely dynamic poses. One foot on the ground, the other kicked up, etc.

I also got the SD Dressmaking Vol. 1 book. My mom wants to sew her some outfits. I was disappointed that Volks was out of carrying cases. I want to bring Kanade-chan with me when I travel. Oh well, I'll keep watching.

There are other places that sell carrying cases. Mintoncard sells them, so does dollmore.com I believe. Some people use yoga mat bags, too! There are lots of places you can get a carrier if you weren't attached to a certain look.

I have an old-model Azone Chisa (the Obitsu body), 1/6 scale. I also have a custom Dollfie Dream (1/3).

In December, I bought Chisa a PureNeemo Flection XS body. The body shape was excellent, but the poseability is crap. I hated it. Her original Obitsu body is wonderful. It is extremely poseable.

My DD girl has a normal DD2 base body. She has a hard time touching her face, but other than that is quite poseable as well. I'm aware of the extra joint above the elbows and knees to give her more range of motion, but I'm too scared that I'll break her skeleton.

From what I have seen, the DDS body is better in this regard. A DDS should be able to touch her face without any trouble.

As for price, Chisa was used, and cost me ~$80. I've spent about $150 on clothes and other stuff for her. My DD was much more expensive, closer to $800, plus at least $600 on clothes, a stand, and lots of other stuff. In my opinion, the money was well spent. They bring me a lot of joy.

In my opinion, the best thing to do would be to buy a custom head from yaj for $30 to $100 and pair it with an obitsu body 21-27cm small bust. Probably a 21 or 23 for the loli-effect you want. The bodies are something like $20 a piece. Then you can find some clothes that fit.

Besides azone, thats probably as cheap as you can get, but I dont like the azone faces that much. mamachapp would work but they are a little expensive and not easy to find.

I actually bought the camera used for not very much at all. Not that it matters. The reason I don't own a DD isn't because I can't afford it, but because I haven't quite fallen in love with the standard dollfies, and I'm not ready to spend insane amounts on a limited character doll from an auction.
I wouldn't exactly call Bluefairy dolls cheap either. They cost the same as a regular dollfie, but they're only 2/3 the size.

They're DOLLS. They were made for posing not playing. Azone's original design involved interchangeable static parts, so that you can admire their pretty knees and elbows. (on right) But apparently buying new parts for poses was a pain in the ass, SO they made the flection body (left) whoopdeefuckingdoo, right?

Look at the joints. LOOK AT THEM. they're unidirectional swivel joints with rotational cuts in the upper thighs and upper arms. How flexible do you think they can be?
