Dear /jp/,

Please explain "Spell Card Capturing", why is it called this when there is no spell card album or collecting? All you're doing is perfectly evading the other girl's spell, so why not just say "Dodge Success" or something else with similar engrish?

Also touhou is about girls using spell cards on each other? Do they have abilities or do they just use spell cards?

but there is an "album" of sorts, check the results option on the menu screen. and these fights are like duels, enduring the enemies attack until it is exhausted thus "capturing" and by surviving all the enemies spell cards you basically win the duel

She absorbs the magic of the card, and puts it into the score meter.
That's why you get bonus points when you capture a card.

Many Touhou characters are so broken that their full power could destroy the world, break time-space continuum etc. Also, they could't lose in a fight.
So spell cards are self-imposed limiter to prevent that kind of shit happening. Think Gensokyo version of Geneva Convention. Notice that characters don't die when they lose a fight, so there's no real personal risk is fights where the use of spell cards is enforced.

Let's say Reimu is ballin' through a forest then Cirno attacks because someone broke her house again and she thought it was Reimu.

Cirno uses a spell card

are spell cards permanent things or do they disappear upon use?

If reimu dodges all the lasers and absorbs the magic, what happens to the spell card?

is Cirno smart enough to use a spell card in the first place?

Spell card is a contract that says "I'm going to use magic X that does Y, it has a name Z". That's it. Touhous assumedly carry them on themselves to declare spells they're going to use before the fight, although to my knowledge we've never seen this actually happen.
