Rance Quest, which will be Rance VIII for the series, will be a full 3D questing RPG.
You pick up quests and achieve them as you progress.
If you fail on a quest you still retain the EXP, but have to restart the quest from the start
Any quests you have already completed are repeatable, so any events and items you missed in the quest can be salvaged later.
Rance heads to the forest of Kalar to undo the curse on Sill...

Characters shown on the TG magazine scan
Sachiko Centers: Schoolgirl saved by rance while being attacked by monsters.
She ends up in his party as a defender. Her dream is simply to become an ideal housewife.
Crookoo Mofus (kurukkoo is how pigeon crying is written in Japanese): A mysterious girl exorcising evil spirits living in the Kalar forest.
Suzume: the Super-kunoichi who aided Rance in the last game. She tags along as his guardian this time.
Reset (Lisette) Kalar: Cute, cheery kalar girl. The description doesn't say if she's related to Rance, possibly to avoid spoilers to new comers to the series.
(In her introduction to the series in Kichikuoh Rance, she's the daughter of Rance and Pastel, the queen of Kalar.
It's not clear if this plot has been carried over to this canon entry yet, but hopefully. Or Alicesoft will have thousands of angry oldschool fans to deal with)
Aegis Kalar: A soldier who guards the Kalar forest from human invaders who come to hunt their crystals.
(The crystals on the forehead of a Kalar turns from red to blue when they lose virginity.

I just finished Rance 4, it was pretty good, and I started 4.1.

No. The ending of the game is strictly True History.

But since Sill got frozen and her magic weakened, Isoroku got preggers. Kenshin found the Emperor sword in a different manner as well. Since Kou is still the canon ruler of JAPAN, the Emperor Race did not occur.

That, and in True History, you can force Choushin to give you the Emperor Ring that he has.

On top of that, TADA once named Rance "Rance Clear" as in, "clear"ing a level.
both gaming words dating back to old SFC days

So if he named her back in Kichikuoh based on why he named Rance Clear, it's very possible he meant the actual "Reset" word to go along with Clear. TADA is a known old-time gamer, and he uses lots of old-time game puns in the works.

Besides, when Japanese read リセット the word that comes to the mind is Reset. Not the actual Western name Lisette.

Of course, it all depends on how they write it canon in the game or hanihon, and I don't think she's been written officially in English yet.

I hope the maps aren't as whack as in Rance VI. I'm OCPD, so exploring every spot on a new map gave me headaches. (Actually, the game even rewards you for 100% exploration.) Rance 02 was much simpler.

Yes. Pretty much every story in Alicesoft games that involved the Kalar race has had this rage worthy tragedy happen.

In Toushin Toshi 2, one of the key character who was close to protagonist suffered this fate, and brutally killed.
In Toushin Toshi 3, one of the main heroine is a kalar, and nearly suffers the fate (a different kalar girl does instead)
In Kichikuoh Rance, an entire village of Kalar are raped and killed by the Hellman army led by Mineva's brother.

So it's an ongoing theme in multiple of Alicesoft games.
They're not defenseless women though, Kalar are very powerful magicians.
And Hunty, Patton's foster mother-and-lover, is insanely powerful Kalar (she's level 127, with level cap of 1000, and a magic skill level of THREE)
Although she's an exception.

Normal human beings don't really stand a chance successfully raiding a kalar village.

Lisette is from the non-canon game Kichikuoh Rance. While it is non-canon, it was meant to encompass all the previous world building ideas Alicesoft had for Rance and Rance World before they closed down (but they didn't close down and here we are with new Rance games starting with 5d).

This is the game where we get the original characters that we inevitably see in Rance 6 and Sengoku (7), such as Isoroku.
