Do any of you ever feel guilty for committing mass genocide of poor fairies on a daily basis?

Does it bother you that Reimu and Marisa get slain if they engage fairies in hand-to-hand combat but Cirno doesn't?

It's a general philosophy in conduct between magic users, youkai and everyone living in Gensokyo. Without the spellcard rules, humans would have been exterminated by the youkai, leading to their own demise.

For more detailed info, read Perfect Memento in strict sense.

Though, those rules apply only to Gensokyo residents. If, by any chance, a portal really opened and one of us spawned far from the human settlement, we would be eradicated on sight. (That's cannon).

>>7170126
Actually, mass genocide of humans should be thought in the same mind set.
There's lots of humans now, they can just copulate and spawn more babies, so there's nothing to feel bad about.
Too bad bombings don't really happen on a daily basis.

How could the youkai possibly know you are an ousider unless they saw you come through the portal/barrier. They wouldn't risk breaking the rules so they wouldn't just attack right away.

Clothes, accent (if you can speak Japanese at all, it's not unreasonable to think that due to the long-time isolation, Gensokyo has it's own language variety, ),accessories, lack of fear towards them etc.

Do you think if you somehow transferred in the Edo period you could pass as a normal resident of the era?

Book says they can somehow identify outsiders (CLOTHES), also they can't ''force'' the breaking of the rules, if they try shooting death beams it'll come out as danmaku, the draft works as a global bind and only those outside Gensokyo can attack normally (eg: Lunarians).

So technically all they'd have to do is shoot them with the excuse of ''messing around a bit'' and should they be able to physically mutilate them THEN it'd be time to take out a napkin.

>Do you think if you somehow transferred in the Edo period you could pass as a normal resident of the era?

Sure. Just whine about the latter days of the law, cry whenever you see something vaguely touching or could be interpreted as touching, write shitty poems that don't rhyme and fail to follow their own rules half of the time and if things turn sour, become a monk. No one will be able to tell you're a foreigner, let alone displaced in time.

Which is bullshit, humans have not been exterminated by youkai for over 110 years before the spellcard rules' introduction, in fact they haven't been hunted at all during that period.

I'm sorry you don't have a slightest clue what you're replying to. Please learn some goddamn reading comprehension. I don't like wasting my time.

Yes they were, PMiSS says so, except they weren't ''raids'' but instead caputuring any unlucky fellow who wandered into the forest or just got away from a crowd, to which youkai just plucked him and ravished his insides. That doesn't account for humanity dissapearing, but it does account for constant kidnapping and raids.

>attacking humans was the point of the youkai existence, but since the erection of the Great Barrier it's become troublesome for them to do so, and they've had to find sources of food outside their normal choices

That's what PMiSS says on the matter. I guess you can go ahead and argue that I shouldn't have said "at all" when there possibly maybe could have been instances of a youkai eating a human... sure, obviously, but that's nothing but pointless bickering.

>Also >>7170146 isn't me, by the way.

I can tell, the difference is obvious. He's simply wrong. You're not making any sense whatsoever and are arguing for the sake of arguing.

>Arguing for the sake of arguing

You posted something I considered wrong, I corrected it, you thought otherwise, etc.

Arguing is the only decently fun thing to do in /jp/.

Also that doesn't neglect the fact that Youkai were still eating humans as a source of food, plus the fact that both youkais and humans were being killed in battles. Only until the spellcard draft was made did the youkai fully stopped hunting, unless it's the aforementioned outsider.

And, well, if you really want to discuss this - if you believe Reimu, humans are eaten all the time. Only now they're brought from the outside. Gensokyoan humans have been perfectly safe for over a century.
