A lot of artists don't seem to capture the thickness of the diaper, but I appreciate their efforts. This picture in particular is really cute despite that.

Western artists tend to be better at it, but I blame this distinction on the kinds of diapers available to both cultures. Japanese diapers tend to be cloth entirely, using cloth padding beneath plastic panties or another layer of waterproof cloth, while western countries tend to use disposable diapers that require more padding and are generally more effective but less efficient, and much more noisy.

I think it's due to the lack of plastic. Cloth diapers do feel similar on the inside, but they just don't have that extra layer of waterproof. Of course, the tradeoff is the amazingly loud crinkle, but I prefer disposables anyway.

The compromise is cloth diapers with plastic pants. Of course, some don't like the extra laundry...

There definitely seems to be more diaper fandom among western audiences. You always see western fetish artists and furry artists doing abdl stuff. You hardly see much Japanese stuff, let alone see any touhou stuff.
