It's now running Ubuntu instead of WinXP, so stability shouldn't be a problem anymore (although the possibility of me doing something stupid and breaking it again still exists).

If there's anything not on there that should be on there, just post in this thread and I'll see if I can do anything about it. (There will be no licensed VNs or nukige on the FTP; the FTP is mainly for VNs, so anime, games and the like are only added when I feel like adding them or if they're truly /jp/-related (for example, Touhou games or Welcome to the NHK).)

Anyways, enjoy.

Sorry, but no writing permissions. My disk space is limited, so only stuff I upload myself will be on there. I'm currently still copying various non-FTP things to the HDD, I'll see how much space I have left on it after that. Ar Tonelico is slightly /jp/-related, so I guess it isn't bad to have on there.

>> No.7068162

Does "translated" mean "already in english" or "patch available online"?

>> No.7068165

>>7068154
Well that makes it somewhat less than useful. Half the fun of board FTPs are uploading things that fellow Anons could enjoy, if there are no uploads, it isn't fun.

>> No.7068169

>>7068154
Aww come on, make a folder with write permission!
Just put a lot of restrictions on it like file size etc.
If you're worried people will upload illegal shit just disable read permission in the folder and just delete whatever you don't want to keep.

My apologies for the short hiccup just now, like I said, it still breaks when I do something stupid.

>>7068162
The VNs in the 'English' folder are already in English, the VNs in the 'Translated' folder have a full patch available online.

>>7068177
If you mean the software, it's proftpd (with the ridiculously buggy gadmin-proftpd for configuration - I can't even add users through the GUI anymore, otherwise it crashes).

>> No.7068216

>> No.7068217

>>7068207
cd ~ = in a terminal, thats to get to your home directory

mkdir /incoming = make a folder and call it "incoming"

sudo quota = my assumption is that it has something to do with setting the size restrictions in the folder.

>> No.7068224

>>7068207
It's the set of commands to use under a unix operating system to create a folder to upload to and set restrictions on the maximum amount of disk space that can be used for uploads. I'd also have to tweak the proftpd settings to allow uploads, though.

>> No.7068229

>>7068224
Do it!

Otherwise its not really /jp/ FTP, and more just someone's FTP with /jp/-related things in it.

Though it sounds neat, I imagine its not going to be fun sorting through all the things that would be uploaded, especially images.

You should try vsFTPd, it's a little bit harder to configure (I don't know it there is a GUI to do it) but it's lighter and more stable with a lot of concurrent connections.

He's talking about the fact that I'm a newbie when it comes to unix operating systems, which is completely true. I'm a Windows person, so I rarely use any other operating systems and as a result take ages to set up something as simple as an FTP server.
