Do any of you have problems running EoSD in modern machines/OSs?

All the other Touhou game runs fine, especially the newer ones but Th06 only feels clunky, the movement feels delayed a bit and it's almost impossible to pull off a death bomb. I'm not sure if I had this back when I ran Windows XP, I didn't play the game too well back then to notice it, but it's certainly different from the other games to me. I have an ATI VGA and I'm running 64 bit W7.

Vsync patch?

I've never had that problem

No, it's fine for me.

This is why my machine is archaic.

Sure I can't play anything more graphicly sound than borderlands but goddamn I can play planescape torment without blitting errors.

Most games run fine, but I can't run IaMP with the english patch, neither SWR

touhou uses some kind of double buffer to prevent screen tearing, which delays input for a couple frames. This patch disables that, also lets you resize the screen to any resolution in window mode, which is mandatory if you have a modern monitor.

The bad part is that you need to run it through applocale and rename EoSD to some japanese shit in order to run. I suggest making a shortcut so you don't have to do it everytime.

>> No.7018411

continuing, you have to rename your TH06e.exe to 東方紅魔郷.exe, then run vpatch.exe through applocale. If it still doesn't work try deleting alcostg.dll I think and it should work.

>> No.7018415

I don't know why, but for some reason the vpatch thing stopped working. It worked before, but a couple months ago it just stopped working.

I only notice this delay in EoSD (and the patch worked and helped quite a lot, thanks), does it improve the playability of the other games as well? I barely notice delay on them.

>>7018468

It should. I've had slight problems with feeling a bit heavy in PCB and IN and it fixed that problem for me. I'm not sure how big of a deal it would make in the later games though, probably not that big a difference.

Is that... even if I'm using the Japan locale? I thought everybody on /jp/ was using the Japan locale...

Why is EoSD so much easier with Marisa god damn.

I almost hard 1cc'd the game in a single try.

I personally prefer the Magical Missile one, it takes down bosses in 2 seconds less or so than Reimu B. Laser has Master Spark though, it's really up to you. But both are better than Reimu.
