Hey guys!

I come for a board called /mu/. Maybe you've heard of it! We like to discuss music.

I thought it would be fun to see what kind of music all of the other board on 4chan were into.

What do you like to listen to?

>> No.6991015

Aw, no takers? That's too bad.

I thought you guys would be more fun.

Arrangements of songs from the Touhou Project series of shoot-em-ups in most existing genres (jazz, house, classical, trance, rock, orchestral, metal, folk, whatever). Soundtracks from anime and visual novels. J-pop and J-core. Japanese idol groups.

My tastes vary greatly depending on my mood, and toggle around from week to week, most times its downtempo/ambient/IDM and that sort of soft stuff.

Neutral Milk Hotel of course.

I think I've spent the last 7 days listening to Cassandra by Paper Rival on repeat. Is it odd to listen to the same track constantly like that? It's seriously never stopped looping since I put it on while failing to leave the house to go to university for another week. I brought the habit up with someone on the course once and they said they'd never be able to do that.

Usually non-rearranged touhou music, sometimes I poke around for orchestral arranges. I do really dig the jazzy ones and listen to them a lot though. Don't like the metal/techno ones one bit. Other than that, a couple video game soundtracks, the same stuff I listened to in middle school (ATDI, Cursive, Alkaline Trio, etc) and artists I've run into while dabbling unsuccessfully in normalfaggotry through high school and a little bit beyond. I still look around for new artists on occasion but it's mostly video games and Inanimate Dream on repeat.

hmmm, me as well. I'm not ignorant to vocals, I just have high standards for them and unless they bring me to tears I'd rather just the instrumentals.

OP, /jp/ is a bit slower than most boards. Hell, if you get to /an/, you'll be lucky to see a reply in ten minutes, much less four

As for me, the "normal" bands I like listening to are

Tyr
The Protomen
Frank Sinatra
Thrice
A FEW songs by the Offspring, although as a whole I don't know if I like them that much
Not a band, but if Neil Patrick Harris was involved with it, I have its OST
Kate Covington (Does a lot of covers of vidya and Disney songs, some of my favorites of which are Bonds of Sea and Fire from Xenogears, Once Upon a December, and more)
Various vidya and Disney OSTs (Mulan, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Homeworld, and more)

The stuff that's more weeaboo, or at least stuff you wouldn't know if you weren't into things like anime, VNs, and so forth:

The Pillows (Responsible for the songs behind Fooly Cooly)
Pretty much everything Susumu Hirasawa was ever involved in (the OSTs for Paprika, Paranoia Agent, almost everything Satoshi Kon was involved with ever)
Kalafina (did the ending theme to Madoka Magica)
Various other OSTs from VNs and more /jp/ related games here (Umineko, Hisoutensoku's OST, etc)

If we're getting into Touhou music, there's so many groups that make music for it, it doesn't mean much to simply say their name. So, I'll just give an example of a couple of some songs from groups that I utterly adore

Favorite band would be Soutaisei Riron.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2nTZrPQFFc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFDCCP5KOZY
Favorite song(and vocalist) woul be YUKI's Fugainaiya:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCTsupClfIk
The only thing that I like and know that /mu/ knows is Mass Of The Fermenting Dregs, since one of your people posted about them here sometime ago.
Kashiwa Daisuke is also an interesting artist that shouldn't be unpalatable for you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PifdG-bH4PQ
Other than that, tons of different stuff. Punk/Post-Punk/Rock would be favorite genres, female vocals preferred but not essential. And there are the various touhou arranges, game and anime music, and even occasional vocaloid song. I'm not very picky, the only thing I don't like are some genres of electronic dance music(like 99% of trance, for example)
Most of the non-Japanese stuff I listen to is either local Eastern-European artists or rap.
