Are you talking about pure THC? It basically has the same effect as weed, but no Tar or other chemicals. It's the safest method of getting the same kind of high pot gives, but safer. It's still not completely safe, as there has been tests that 1 out of 10 people carry a specially gene that can make you show schizophrenic behavior when exposed to a lot of THC.

And there's the addiction part of it, if he is getting high as a form of positive reinforcement or relieve stress, forget about a bad event, etc: it can become a habit, like most things in life, that's hard to let go of.

I've been smoking those synthetic cannabinoids for a while now. They're very similar to the real deal, some I wouldn't even be able to tell apart from real THC. You just have to be careful with the dosage as some preparations are stronger than normal weed. I haven't noticed any bad side effects so far. It's really a godsend to be able to just order drugs by mail from an online shop. I wouldn't be able to enjoy them any other way.

In the past I also did shrooms, DXM and a few others. Most experiences were enjoyable with a few bad trips in between, but nothing major. Alcohol makes me sick.

Marijuana does not have the death sentence in Japan, however, you get 5 years minimum for just possession. The marijuana in Japan isn't even that good, 60$ for a gram just isn't worth it.

I can't get hands on anything, the only time I was able to even do as much as smoke weed was twice. Once in the Summer and once in the Winter. So here is what I do. Take about 12 bags of black tea and simply brew all of that together for about 10 minutes, (you may also add a bag or 2 of herbal tea made for relaxation for a bonus). Now drink it as fast as you can. This shit is gonna be disgusting and bitter to the extreme so get ready to feel like you are about vomit as you do this, so keep something small to eat by you when you do this, nuts work perfectly especially if they are sweetened to cancel out the bitterness a bit. After you manage to drink it all just sit back, have fun, but whatever you do don't do anything physically exhausting unless you enjoy heart attacks.
