I just got a new computer and I'm trying to play the Touhou games on it, but they all keep crashing at launch. What's going on here?

Also, Yukari thread.

Yukari is a scary touhou.

Drivers and everything installed? Any way to post a crash log?

Windows 7 64-bit. I recently updated DirectX so I don't get the .dll errors, but something else is wrong.

The only thing I can think of is to change the system locale, but I'm not 100% sure that will work.

It's not that I'm getting driver errors, I installed DirectX as soon as I booted it up. They just all crash at launch. I'm thinking it has to do with the system locale, since they were working fine on my old laptop and that thing's locale is set to Japanese.

Try running them in compatibility mode for Windows XP Servicepack 3.

You could try running them on compatibility mode for win98, that worked for an acquaintance of mine.

And always check the folder for moonrunes/mojibake, most of the time is that.

Try going into custom.exe and making the games run in windowed mode. For some reason, on my WIndows 7 64 bit, SA and UFO will crash on startup if it's in fullscreen. Once the game is loaded and going, I can then hit F10 to put it in fullscreen again.

>> No.6957770

Still not working. I should mention I'm opening the executable programs from an external hard drive.

I guess they're going to stay broken then?

Try updating your Visual C++ Package

Are you using dual monitors?

I have a dual monitor setup, and touhou games crash for me unless I disable the secondary monitor.
