There is a a number among two others. Between two facts lies another fact. There is a space interval amid two grains of sand, no matter how close they may be. There is a feeling that is in-between feeling. It is through the interstices of matter that the world breathes and this continuous respiration is what we call Yukari.

Akyuu could continuously make out the tranquil advances of corruption, of caries, of fatigue. She noted the progress of death, of moisture. She was the solitary and lucid spectator of a multiform world which was instantaneously and almost intolerably exact. Babylon, London, and New York have overawed the imagination of men with their ferocious splendour; no one, in those populous towers or upon those surging avenues, has felt the heat and pressure of a reality as indefatigable as that which day and night converged upon the unfortunate Akyuu.

Oh, well, it is the story of a woman who finds, kills and eventually eats a cockroach in her maid's room, if you are interested.

Sounds like something similar to Kafka's The Metamorphosis. I'll look into it.

The reference to Kafka is intentional indeed but don't expect similar writing styles...

As it moves through it's space, mankind carries along all of it's previous steps, each of it's subsequent ones. Is simultaneously everywhere, is a crowd that proceeds forward, recapitulating at every given moment a sum of stages. We live in many worlds, each truer than the one it encompasses and falser than the one by which it is enveloped. Some are known through action, others are realised through thought, but the apparent contradiction that lies in their coexistence is solved by our obligation of attributing a meaning the closest ones while refusing it to the farthest.
