They weren't living up to their purposes whatsoever. r9k failed to chemo /b/ (as /soc/ apparently has taken this role), and he said from the getgo he was going to delete /new/ right away if it turned into stormfront again (which is exactly what happened). He gave them fair warning.

What it is is that it's been roughly a year since he added back /new/ (along with when he added lit and sci etc), and so I think he's doing an overall review of what boards have made the grade or not.
