Some time ago in my region there was story about girl who jumped from bridge during winter to kill herself. Drown especialy in cold water is terrible pain. She jumped from high (cars+train) bridge in very dangerous place so there was no chance that she would be saved, but when she jumped she did hit drifting ice. It will turn you into a little girl. You'll have to learn how to use danmaku and spell cards on your own. It can be quite difficult if you don't have any natural magical abilities, but there's a shop in the human village that sells introductory guides. If you move to Gensokyo, you can also take classes. Unfortunately, the games won't teach you anything useful. Dealing with danmaku in three dimensions is quite different than two.

If you want to see the countryside, you should learn danmaku. Notably, the road to the Moriya Shrine is quite perilous. Youkai Mountain is a bad area.

Be careful with trying to kill yourself. You don't want to end up in a "suicide gone wrong" book, which funny enough i know about. There was some interesting stuff in there. Firstly someone drank some Draino and well, lets say it didn't go as planned. The Draino burnt through his throat which caused him to suffocated painfully because Draino uses water to help the sodium to dissolve.
Another one was when someone tried to shoot himself in the head. don't remember the caliber of the bullet but must of been 9mm, anyway the bullet went and got lodged in his head instead of exiting i think and left him a vegetable. Do they sell firecrackers where you live? Home-made pipebomb using nuts or screws as shrapnel held in the mouth does the trick pretty effectively. Very very messy and utterly undignified, though.
Unless you can get your hands on morphine or other hardcore painkillers charcoal asphyxiation is still your best bet for painlessness, though the chance of brain injury and coma is higher as well as the chance the fumes could harm someone who tries to rescue/investigate.

"Not pleasant" is a mild way of putting it. Chlorine gas was one of the forms of gas weapons they used in WW1, go read some of the accounts of gas-related injuries if you want to know what dying that way is like.
While it's not 100% sureproof if you concentrate it(let it fill up an airtight bag or whatnot) before inhalation and then start taking huge breaths it will almost assuredly kill you if someone doesn't give you medical help quickly, with the caveat that you'll die screaming after hours of agony.

Toxic inhalants are kind of iffy in general since the dosage can vary. Chlorine is bad for this since your natural reaction when you begin asphyxiating and your eyes/throat/lungs start getting seared is to pull your head away which will reduce the amount you intake and increase the chances of everything not going to plan.
Setting up a deadman's switch or something will help but the more steps you add the higher the chance something will go wrong which could result in brain damage or pain.
If you're looking for sure death regardless of the costs massive body trauma has and always will be the most effective and cheap way.
