Yes. SimuLation Game is just an old name for RPGs from back when an RPG meant something directly descended from Chainmail/D&D. Japan took it and kind of corrupted the meaning to mean most sims and TBSes. Likewise, their acronym for SRPG is Simulation Role Playing Game, not Strategy.

Get a sega saturn emulator and play dragon force, it really is a fun game although kind of easy once you figure it out/know where the secret characters are. You can beat it in one sitting too, I have too since my saturn does not save ;-;.
The voice acting is early 90s dubbed anime bad though, luckily it is only at the very beginning and very end.

Listen to that shit, it screams old school Sega.

The characters also have really well done stories and motivations. Even side characters are highly sculpted and have mini stores attached to them. It has VN style plot too, with a big twist. Each Hero's campagin is different from the rest too, because each Hero responds differently to everyone else, for instance two of them might be childhood friends and join with no fighting, while one may be a super bastard and everyone teams up against him. Or one does no fighting at all and pulls the strings from behind the curtain.

It doesn't seem to run all that good for me.

Yet I can run most PS2 games, so I doubt it's a hardware issue.
Then again, the coding for this might not be the most recourse friendly.
